A majority of the comments I receive on my page are:
-thanking me for favorites
-thanking me for watching them
-wishing me birthday wishes
-the occasional random tags that people do for comment chains/journals
-then the rarer, someone having a question for me, that they send via comment instead of noting me

I tend to hide those, since I always feel awkward replying to them (that is just, how I am). I apologize a bit, if that may bother you (since I know some users will hide comments because it shows them:

-covering up accusations against them
-spam hate/troll messages
-or comments of the similar nature

First, I thank you for indulging me with a wonderful answer! I do not agree with hiding 99% of the comments! but it is your page! I have full respect with the decision you have made for yourself based upon your needs. 

The reason I do not agree hiding the comments is because this IS a site full of people who appreciates your actions by acknowledging them with seemingly endless thank-yous. Not a bad thing really...hiding spam hate/troll messages and baseless rude comments are mandatory for me. Mutual respects is a must for me! I receive a lot of messages everyday, I appreciate them very much! I appreciate all my viewers, they are the reasons that I am a better at what I do...

Well I pretty much went through my skype contacts and removed people that don't talk to me hardly or not at all.
(And since, we hardly ever really talked much..from when I initially added you and as of recent, I saw no real reason to keep you added. I thought, if anything, you could easily still contact me via notes or comments or chat *much like any of the other people could, that I deleted from skype*)

Oh man, I have so much to finish...you don't even understand. xD (I have three commissions to finish, then requests, then pet sheets, plus two...no...three or so applications, a bunch of old things I want to upload, plus some random things I felt like doodling, etc etc.)

It probulary won't be til December til I got at least half the work list done, pfff-
