I still have a LONG way to go to get to where I'd like to be in coloring, but basically I use a lot of tutorial's on shadows/highlights, and tools to use. I use PS CS3.

you're welcome. I'm getting a full chibi of her (her name is Delphina) and she's my lil avi. but YamPuff is doing a chibi of her, and it'll be a better feel of who she is, I love your stories..so if you could come up with their past, it'd be amazing. & of course I'd credit you.
