You've got a GREAT concept going with By the Gods!
My suggestion is to consider all the problems modern society suffers and relate how people have had similar issues throughout history and keep going. Then twist them into how someone of your setting would deal with it. For example:
- Losing luggage when transporting
- Food/Diet trends of the year
- Parenting issues
- Assigning social status with age/money
- Slow/delayed long-distance messaging
- Screaming children/babies
- Annoying beggars
- Traffic jams
- Lying/door-to-door salesmen
- Door-to-door religious pairs
- Finding a mate through classified interpretive groups
- Cultural misunderstandings
- Pest control
- Unexpected expensive medical/mechanical bills
- Tollway expenses
- Resource shortages (similar to 'power outages', etc.)
- Typos
- Faulty tools soon after warranty expires
