Ok, now is Hybrid aimed at the YA market?
Those are good influences for Science Fiction for sure. Do you go by the visual storytelling and plots of the movies/games or do you also read the books associated with them?
What kind of constructive criticism do your friends give you and do they discuss it with you openly?
Grammar story structure are all things I had trouble with too. And there are many different ways to address those things.
How often do you get official feedback from the writing community?
Ever attend Writing workshops or classes?

So, you are aiming for it to be Adult reading level Science fiction then? I think that is an issue that needs to be addressed--going by the beats and cues of visual storytelling when you are attempting to tell stories in a textual format. Because what works in a visual medium isn't going to always work in text. And that is stuff like thematic structure, pacing, character development, "show-don't-tell" etc. My advice is to start reading in the genre that you want to be a part of. And if you read a lot of YA material but want to write more mature stories then it doesn't line up and you need a solid reference, a basis of comparison to call to.
Like, I read a lot of mature-rated literary works, because that is mostly what I aim to write one day. If I want to write material for the YA reading level, then I'll research and spend time reading books in that genre to help me find what writing voice I need to develop. 

I would also advise finding a way to go to local classes and writing shops. Those really do help and having that network outside of friends and family can be tremendously beneficial to your writing career. I eventually did that when I found the time and having an unbiased critique on my work gave me grounded advice to improve my writing. 

DeviantArt is kind of a mixed bag when it comes to feedback. Posting is one thing, but this site really works of giving back first before anyone has the time of day to look at your own work. Especially for novels. It's much harder for someone to commit to reading a novel chapter versus "Hey look at my new digital painting I just did"
