I really like Sakura. So, i have a story idea. She kills Gordon Freeman he before he got to Black Mesa East. Gman is mad, but said she 'Save him the trouble' and makes a 'business offer' with her. She is now made the new 'Anticitizen' and have no choice but go to Black Mesa East. Maybe Gman sends her Shephard to help her.

I've heard it's pretty advanced in terms of features. Is it something I can get right into right away or will it take some trial and error?

It's got a learning curve, but valve has good tutorials. If you're only planning on doing still shots, it's not that bad. The real trial and error is finding out half the maps and models that work great in gmod don't work in SFM :V

Stupid question inbound.
Are following System Specs enough to play GMod:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 450 3.2 GHz
Memory: 4 GB (1x4 GB) DDR3
Hardrive: 750 GB SATA II 7200 rpm
CFX: AMD Radeon HD 6450 1 GB
System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Fortunately the Source engine is one that is very scalable, allowing lower end systems to run it fairly smoothly. I'm no PC guru, but judging by your specs, you should be able to run it. You may have to fiddle around with some graphical settings though.
