One more thing, I appreciated the info you gave me on sniper rifles a while back. It's been pretty hectic in my personal and social life, but I'll be sure to get those drawn sometime soon.

Yo! Thanks for the fave! More importantly, what can you tell me about Vietnam-era sniper rifles, if anything at all?

I shall give you information, my curious friend.
Sniper rifles you ask? I'm your man. I've studied snipers since I was three.

The Russian 7.62x54r Dragunov, Mosin Nagant and the SKS Simonov were often used with scopes as weapons by the Viet Cong. On rare occasions, they used German
7.92x54 Mauser 98k carbines with scopes, too.
For the ARVN and the Americans, We actually used HUNTING rifles like the Remington 7.62x51mm M40, the Winchester .308 M70, The Springfield 30-06 M1903A1, and the M1 garand with a scope on it.
There has also been a case of the famous vietnam sniper, Carlos " white feather " Hathcock using A Browning Fifty caliber Machine gun with a 5x zoom scope to neutralize a enemy tank from a long distance a rifle could not reach. This was in a book about him called White Feather if you want to read it. Also, if your into snipers, research LLudmila Pavlichenko, and Vassili Zaitsev. I hope you find this useful.

You sir, are amazing! I've been asking around for info on Vietnam-era sniper rifles for a while now, and you're the only one who's responded! You certainly didn't disappoint!

I enjoy sniper rifles and learning about them just as much as the next gun enthusiast, but I'll admit, I'm not as sniper savvy as I am with other types of firearms. So your input is greatly appreciated!

I knew the Dragunov was around at the time of the Vietnam War, but I never thought the NVA or the VC used that weapon! xD Makes sense, though! From what I remember, the NVA and the VC used whatever they could get their hands on. I also remember hearing that the Remington M40 was one of the most common American sniper rifles of the time.

I'll definitely have to look into that book! Oh, and yeah, I do know about Vassili Zaitsev and Ludmila Pavlichenko, they're probably the most famous Russian snipers! I personally love the story of Simo HΓ€yhΓ€.

Again, thanks for the input! I'm currently working on combat shotguns of the Vietnam War, and I plan to do sniper rifles after that.
