I think that religions are fine as long as they're something like believing in karma. But to pray instead of doing is stupidity.

Faith is something that will help those who need mental help.
I'd have no problem with Japanese people in the midst of chaos praying - it gives them mental strength and stability.

But to pray instead of helping and not realizing that there are far more disastrous events taking place all over the world is ignorance.

Ignorance is a bliss for the ignorant.

Most religions though don't do that though I feel. It's more about converting as much people as possible. Only one "organized" religion I feel I have no problems with is Buddhism, but that is arguably not even a religion at all, because it doesn't require a sense of prayer to a greater deity.

Yeah I've even seen people write things like, "There's nothing we can do except pray to our lord for the safety of the Japanese peoples"
