Well, it was a reference to the big fight some years ago about Jark's sacking. It was seen as a huge offense to the deviantart userbase. However, it seemed in the process, a lot of the Jark supporters forgot that it was a community, not a territory to fight over doing all these elaborate "I'm leaving and taking my art with me" cries.

Symbols are important, very important. People fight for symbols, obviously. There is an emotional attachement. After all, why else do we "please allegiance to the flag"? The flag is not the country, but it is a very powerful symbol of it. Don't discount symbols.

I'm not discounting symbols, I'm saying "don't forget what the symbol means in its defence".
It's almost like the flag-burning controversy. If we sacrifice freedom of expression to preserve a symbol of freedom of expression, where are we?
If we sacrifice the community, tearing it apart and squabbling, for the sake of restorying Jark, a symbol, we're just as bad.

I've seen a lot of people using those words: "tear apart the community" and I can't quite say exactly what I feel about them. On one hand, I understand them. I understand how it can be seen as that. However, on the other hand, I can see where they're a bit strong. We don't see what we're doing as tearing apart the community. There are a number of us who are doing this FOR the community and yes, using Jark as a symbol for that. It isn't just for him, it's FOR the community. Because we feel it's headed in a negative direction, and what happened to Jark was only the first obvious sign of that.

Big deal, he has different views than you, get over it. I know I feel the same damn way. I watched the people for their normal art, not jark art. It is unfortunate what happened, but it really is only the buisness of the subscribers and the print owners. My opinion if you don't like it sue me

What I presently feel is opposition toward the "Jark Insanity" of the community.
What's important isn't the man, but the values he represented. Is it really sensible to destroy the community over a symbol?
