The lady nods softly. “Please follow me.” She says as she gets up and goes to show him the way.

Sonic nodded, and motioned for the others to follow. He walk alongside the lady.

Lancelot does so as well, trying to stay on his best behavior. He sighs and looks up at Sonic. The lady looks at Lancelot. “Who is he?” She motions to Lancelot.

The blue one smiled, “a friend and great fighter.”

Lancelot pouts. “Just a friend?” He asks. The lady couldn’t help but chuckle a little bit.

Sonic smirked, “Introducing someone as a friend when your relationship is deeper is generally considered the polite thing to do, unless it’s established very clearly that you want or be introduced otherwise.”

Lancelot nods. “Oh.” Is all he said, and blushes a lot more in embarrassment. The lady smiles softly. “We have made it to his office. Knock on the door before entering. Thank you!” She says and heads back to her work desk.

Sonic nodded, and cheerily walked over, and rapped on the door- Maybe a bit too hard to be considered polite.

The boss smiles softly. “Please, come in.” He says and sighs. “We have a good reason for bringing back fossil fuels... I would like to explain.”

Sonic puffed out his cheeks all pouty-like and walked in. He motioned for the others to follow. “It better be a good one. I brought someone here that has medical issues that the whole ordeal has only worsened.”

The boss sighs. “That’s part of the reason... The more people in the hospital, the more medical bills there are... and the more of those there are, the better the economy is... Because of Chaos Energy... Let’s just say that Doctors haven’t been getting their payments, because they have no one to help... And the more Fossil fuels that there is, the more people can stabilize their incomes. Not only the doctors, but poor people too. In order to help someone, you have to harm someone in the process... it’ll be difficult to some... Wait. What if I come up with a compromise? How about we keep both Chaod energy and Fossil Fuels? That way that many more jobs will be available, and maybe the chaos energy can help to lessen the effects of the Fossil Fuels?”

He frowned, and dropped any semblance of playfulness he had before. “No. Absolutely not. By doing this, you’re only making things worse for the people who can least afford things to go south. You and the doctors might be worried about your few thousand dollars of paycheck not coming that month, but guess what?” He started walking over to the man, quickly enough to get across that he wasn’t backing down. “You can afford medication. You can afford to get treatments. You and all your rich buddies won’t suffer from this. But the rest of the surrounding areas? It’s taking a hit on everyone. It’s making things dirty, which means it’s unclean and more likely to spread germs. It’s going to start killing off plants and making wildlife sick. It’s going to hurt pets and people alike. And the poor people you said it would help? Wrong! They won’t get jack shit from this except more and more bills and misery as their health deteriorates, as loved ones die before they should have, as the dept from the pitiful insurance they keep that they can barely afford, as they try to provide for their families and themselves.” Sonic’s normally peach muzzle was nearly crimson at this point, and his anger continued to steadily make itself known through his voice. “And this isn’t even going into how absolutely insane it is that you claim it will make more jobs! Why do you think so many people are already using it? The janitorial staff are shifted fro0m a dead facility to maintenance of a new one! The people who study the computer sciences are in charge of monitoring the reactors to make sure there isn’t a leak or a meltdown; battery systems for when the facility is shut down for periodic full maintenance need to me watched and checked to make sure nothing fails! R&D could create more efficient ways to transfer chaos energy into electrical energy!” Despite being much, much shorter than the man in front of him, Sonic had managed to intimidate him into literally having his back against the wall. The blue hedgehog scowled deeply, “YOU just have your head so far up your own ass that you could chew your food again on it’s way down.”

The man retreated into his seat and gulps silently as he heard his explanation. He looks behind him and gasps as it got worse and worse. “Fine. Fine. I’m going to stop! But, what if I add another helpful fuel in... Biofuel? It’ll make more jobs, and it’s nothing like Fossil fuels. It’ll go hand and hand with the Chaos Energy, and it’ll make sure that power never goes out. It’ll make energy prices go down, and it will actually help people’s health, because if you inhale it, it’s just like plants. They produce sugars, which people can live off of... It could be a good food source for the poor as well. What do you say, Sonic the Hedgehog?”

His frown lessened, but was still present. “Why not go for that to begin with? is it more expensive than fossil fuels? Or something else? If it’s one thing I’ve learned about you people, it’s that there’s always a catch unless you’re practically strangled out of it.”

The man sighs. “It’s harder to produce. It’s much more expensive to get... That’s why I had it for option two. Supply and demand will help it, I guess... Even though it helps everyone... at the start of it, it’ll hurt us. Many people will go hungry at our business, just because we won’t be able to pay our employees for a while, and that’s the problem.”

“Or, maybe you can cut stockholder return temporarily and maybe, just maybe cut down on some of your own few thousand-dollar-per-month paychecks. Hm? I’ve done a little bit of research about the worker conditions, and you could certainly cut down superfluous things you spend money on to impress your buddies when you show them what your company is doing.” A distinctly vemonous sweet smile spread on his muzzle.

The man leaned back. “Fine! Fine... You win. Each person will get around minimum wage for their services for a while, and I might add COLA onto their paychecks... COLA stands for Cost of Living Adjustments... It’s what you give to employees when there is a price jump in Land, Labor, and Capital... A pay raise to help the employees with Inflation... Makes sense, right?”
