Yeah i'm actually thinking of just going to community college then transferring to CCA. Life is too expensive & it's hard when you're on your own!

Custom shoes tho, that's awesome. I've always thought about drawing my prints on t-shirts, but I really don't know much about fabric paints or fabric itself. A lot I should research, i just never do haha. It's cool that you're a junior and already selling custom stuff that will make a huge impact on your future endeavors. Do you do the all the designs yourself?
You should really use your art classes very wisely so you can add to your portfolio from there. Right now your portfolio should be fun and not stressful at all!
Btw, can I give you a tidbit of advise on art colleges?? especially aau?

Yep I do all the designs myself and with the fan art ones too
I like doing original designs more, but people like fan art so they order that a lot more often.

Yea I was looking through them and they really got my attention. You have some pretty good stuff going on for you!
Well about schools, I'm 22, I've had my fair share of up and downs with uni and colleges alike.
I write a blog on Tumblr, and I usually get people asking me about art schools and asking me for help on how to get started. (blog has nothing to do with it, but people always read the 'about me' section and want some feedback ) and I love to help.
In this case I wanted to jump all over the fact that you tried out aau lol
one thing you have to absolutely make sure is that the college or university you're going to is not a "for profit" school. For profit often makes sure you pay up rather than get you educated. Not to mention they're ridiculously expensive, they often give you a passing grade whether you were good or not, and they wont give you financial aid till after three weeks in of school meaning that you will have to pay for supplies out of your own pocket till the money arrives.
This whole paragraph id dedicated to aau unfortunately.
Anywho, it applies to any school, and it's a bit tricky. Also it's best to attend an art school that you must get accepted in. It usually means that they mean business and will only accept the best for their school. You'd have to have a portfolio, do an essay, get letters of recommendations and do an interview. aau just has you meet an advisor, pay up, and ur set.
The other things you have to look for is make sure they have job placements after you graduate. Go to google and check out all the art colleges or univs and it'll give you percentages of how many students actually graduate and how many of them transfer or drop out.
I don't know which major you're interested in, but I've spent half this year tip toeing around CCA. It looks like a good bet, but like I said, you can search up anything in google that's in your area.
and the other thing, make sure you get a scholarship!! God i cannot stress that enough! lol
you're current HS adviser might be able to help you out with that once you tell them what college or univ you're interested in.

Wow thank you so much for the advice I can't tell you how valuable it is to me. Yes I sort of realized AAU was a for profit school so I stopped taking the pre-college programs. Right now I'm looking to go to UAL for graphic design in Central Saint Martins but it is in London so I would be a starving international student. It is very hard to get into, and my portfolio review is in November. I'm so worried!! Also there aren't any scholarships I can get since I'm international. T_T I'm interested in graphic design as a major right now but I really want to take a year of general studies just to see what I'm best at as well. Don't apologize for the length! gosh for being my first semester, it was insane. three days to learn the material and get it done so quickly. Damn summer semester was so quick. But it taught me so much. How many classes are you taking for each semester? full time or part time?

I was part time but I’m going to be full time in the fall. I really hope I can hack it. Yeah, the summer semester was faster than I expected it to be. Lesson learned… I’m going to take the boring classes like history and English in the summer to get those out of the way so I could spend more time doing more art in a regular semester in the fall and spring. lol

good idea. I was gonna take three classes but apparently I could only afford taking only two hah. anyways going full time is not an option for me. Jobs are hard to find now a days. But that sounds like a good plan. Im taking english this fall semester along with figure drawing
