Yup. Had a lot of potential that ultimately got wasted in my opinion.

Yeah, I've seen that a couple of times. I personally enjoyed my playthrough and can't wait to play through the game again, but I do see the problems it has. I can't say it beat Explorers for me, but I liked the game well enough.
Interestingly enough though, my problem with the story isn't actually the beginning or the end of the story like most people. The beginning, while I'll admit was really slow, had fun dialogue that I enjoyed laughing at which helped me get through it easily. And the end, while a bit too fast, was so epic and the twists just kept me going so much that I couldn't put my game down and enjoyed every moment of it. The part I dislike most is the middle where you're sent on two wild goose chases that I knew from the outset would get you nowhere. I kinda wish that middle section between when you first work for the Expedition Society and the first major revelation of the game was a bit better. Maybe use it to help a bit with the pacing of the end game by hinting at some of the major revelations of the game. Sort of like how the Fogbound Lake exploration from Explorers hinted that the Hero had some connection to the Time Gears.

honestly, the best advice i can give is to practice, practice, practice.
take inspiration from the things you love, your daily experiences, from the good and bad things that have happened to you. implement them into your writings.
make it based on something you've been through. dream up something you wished happened to you. make it your own.
don't compare yourself to others that have done better. make it so that you live up to their example.
but most importantly
never give up

Yeah, I'll admit, variety in the starter selection isn't really there, with only five (six if you want to count Bulbasaur's Poison typing) types available, and both me and a friend of mine really wanted Eevee as a starter as well, but that's the only thing I've learned about it that I find disappointing. Beyond that I'm really hopeful when it comes to the game. It's looking great.

Is Aden's name pronounced as Eh-den, like actually saying the letter A or Ah-den, like the a in father. If that makes any sense.
