Hickorykit sat outside of the den watching the strange cats go about their strange lives. He didn't understand why they did it... just to keep each other alive was his guess.

After a rather uneventful day, Crowkit padded towards the nursery. Running around within camp walls isn't the most exciting thing for him. From afar, he saw the cream kit who he haven't talked to. Eagerly, he approached him and mewed: "Hello!"

The newcomer took Hickorykit by surprise. He jumped back a few inches, and shook his head. He'd encountered many bad cats when he lived alone outside of this place called TangleClan, but he knew none of the cats here meant him any harm no matter how foreign their customs were to him, "Hello... Crowkit isn't it?" Hickorykit meowed.

"Yeah!" Crowkit responded in a cheerful manner. "How are you, Hickorykit? Your name's Hickorykit, right?" said the kitten while he a friendly smile; trying to be as merry as he can. He somewhat acted as if he has known him for cycles, regardless of the fact that they have just properly met by now.

"Oh, yes, I am Hickorykit," he meowed, a little surprised by the eagerness of this tom, "I am doing well. How about you, Crowkit?" he meowed, hoping it was the proper thing to do when talking to others. Since he couldn't remember his mother, he didn't know how to speak or act properly while living alone.Β

"Terrific! Fantastic!" he squeaked. By the looks of it, Crowkit appears to be insufferably enthusiastic with almost anything. Behaving correctly doesn't seem to be on his mind.

"That's always a good thing," Hickorykit meowed. He'd never been this nice to anyone in his life, just because he hadn't actually met anyone who was really nice in his life until he came here, "Do you have any family, Crowkit?" Hickorykit asked. If a cat had family to him it was important, because he had none that he knew of.Β

Crowkit gave a soft nod as a reply. "I have my mama and uncle!" he added in a cheerful tone. It was rather insensitive of him to state that, really. He is not aware of Hickorykit's origins. He assumed the kitten had his parents living with him.Β Typical everyday Crowkit.Β

"That's great!" Hickorykit meowed, not bothered by Crowkit, "I know I must have a mother somewhere. She looked like me, but I don't remember anything about her otherwise. It doesn't bother me though, as long as I'm alive and have nothing severely wrong with me I should be happy and grateful!" Hickorykit smiled, hoping he didn't sound like the weirdest cat poor Crowkit had ever met. He wanted to have friends, so that they could be his family. Β

Suddenly, Crowkit's mood shifted. He was both startled and muddled by Hickorykit's comment concerning his mother. He gave a rather uncertain look, tilting his head slightly to the left. "You don't know what she looked like?" he said softly. "It's not like it matters, really. At least you're happy here.." he added in quiet mutter.

"N-Not really," Hickorykit mewed uncertainly, "She had to have looked like me a little but I suppose." He looked at Crowkit who now seemed a little less enthusiastic as he was at first. It was his fault for upsetting him. "I'm glad I can have a home and family now. Yeah, I guess that's all that matters," he added, smiling.
