Thanks, I'll check out the post.
The author of the book told me in a reply to my email that people were using various ways of social networking to get all of their friends to vote for their entry. I was a bit bummed cause I don't have anything as far as social networks go (ha). So its an uphill battle to get those votes, I appreciate the help.

Yeah, unfortunately, that's how it goes!
I am not a deviant user too, so I asked some people from other art sites I use to come and vote but looks like people does not like "new members" too... So you have to be a full time deviant user to get something, uh. Really really too bad.
I mean what you did really deserves to win or at least being in the top 3!

Sorry to bum you guys out! Trust me this was the best way. It is actually not about popularity at all any more (or possible fake accounts). Sending you both a note regarding what others have done for extra votes and it has to do with groups. There has also been a heavy amount of outside traffic as well which you should be able to see by views/comments/favourites etc. I hope that you see the contest as fair as the other artists now do. Many who didn't even have Deviantart accounts
