No, no. I wasn't drunk, not even tipsy. You asked if I had anything to drink and I did, but I was in a fairly good mood anyway. I'd started rambling on FB before we went to the store and bought that junk.

I didn't get offended with you asking if one drink made me tipsy. Sorry if it came out that way. It shouldn't have come out that way, but if it did, my bad. ily

Thank you for the compliment! If you remove it as a print (because it's not really your work and also it's fan art so you can't offer it as a print in the first place given proper categorizing) and also credit me (with a link to my userpage) in your artist's comment for the deviation, I am find with you changing it with a filter.

Would you mind a request? That would be great! Really, don't bother with it if it's too much trouble (I mean, you've already done 2 at my request/suggestion and so far haven't asked anything of me so I don't want to be greedy here), but if you don't mind and have time for it, I'd be thrilled if you were to portray one of the three original characters in your style:
1) Russell Vance

2) Isaac Ward
Reference: [link] and [link]
3) Rain

If you want to know anything about them, just let me know and I can send you a note or something. Hope your holidays are going great!

It's not bad not knowing. I'm not obsessing over it or anything. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between the regular and the Premium right now. The only thing I knew to look for is the list to see who's visited my page, but I don't even see that. :/

Go to your page, click "Edit Page" and browse the featured widgets. You'll see the visitors one among them and I also recommend showing your friends, groups, and the slideshow option because it's awesome. You can make customized boxes, too! And have a shoutbox and make journals beautiful with different skins! You can mix up the order that these widgets show up on your page by clicking and dragging and dropping them from the "Edit Page" screen. Sorry, I get excited about spiffifying userpages but I hope I was helpful. Let me know if you have any questions?

I've selected a few things! Like the shoutbox, visitors, and something else I can't remember! I also selected my wishlist, but it kinda disappeared and I couldn't figure out how to add things to it in the short amount of time I played with it. It said something along the lines of "Tell us about your wishlist!" And I wrote "My wishlist is a list of the things I wish I had!" And everytime I think of something stupid like that, I think of the funny comic a deviant posted reguarding DA's failure. I didn't see the slideshow, but I'll take a look later.
Thanks!

Happened across here via an ad, and found out you have some pretty nice pieces of art.
On a side note, I wholeheartedly agree the English language is being slaughtered. Whatever happened to typing things out in full, or using a goddamn apostrophe?
Side note two, Russian is a pretty interesting language to learn. I understand a little as I'm from Slovakia, but it falls short of a conversational level of speaking.

HEATHSHHH In reply to FoxLoxley [2010-12-21 00:48:08 +0000 UTC]
Why thank you and I really appreciate the watch! I always enjoy finding people who also support typing most everything out and not tragically abusing punctuation. I'm guessing that if you instant message/chat or text, you are also one that spells everything out? Those modes of communication are no excuse to butcher a language.
In regards to side note two, I also fall short of an effective conversational level of speaking. So far I've only had 3 courses, but my next class is on conversations so I imagine the class will help me improve greatly on that front.

No problem
I do type things out on MSN and whatnot, it just seems more proper. I don't capitalize much in those cases though >.< My biggest peeve is when people butcher basic punctuation and simple words. I mean, I'm not asking you to spell cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine (know that by heart, don't know why). I swear to god I've met people who say lol instead of actually laugh.
But, it's always nice to meet someone who also appreciates the proper use of English
In regards to being conversational in other languages, I speak 3 fluently and understand a bunch more. My worst is French, by far. I took it for 4 years in high school, ended up with a 60 in my final year and told myself never again.

HEATHSHHH In reply to FoxLoxley [2010-12-21 02:22:15 +0000 UTC]
I basically only ever use "lol" when I'm mocking the person I'm talking to for saying "lol" all the time. Of course, they don't know that I'm criticizing them. Often I use typed faces, but I might move more toward written laughter. Lack of capitalization isn't so bad. I tend to be as proper as possible at all times so I'm sad that DA doesn't have the option of deleting comments--when I notice a mistake whether it just be a simple typo, I'd like to delete it and re-comment instead.
I took 2 years of Spanish in high school and I'm learning Russian now. I intend to become fluent in the latter and if I ever have the opportunity/money/time, etc. I would love to take courses to explore other languages after graduation. I'm curious about German and should probably suck it up and study Spanish again later for the sake of practicality. As I am now I can read Spanish well enough to understand basic meanings most of the time, but I've (purposefully) forgotten quite a lot.

"Txt" speak is quite annoying in my opinion. I'll say "lol" if I don't care much when talking on MSN or if the moment calls for something like it, but that isn't often. I'll write "hahaha" or something of the sort rather than "lol".
I know what you mean. It happens often that I make a typo or something and it just makes my comment look messy. The fact I can't edit or delete the comment.
I'm terrible with languages so I stick to the ones I know. French was mostly mandatory thanks to my mother, and I don't intend to study it again anytime soon. I speak Slovak, Czech, and English, the first being my first language, and I'm fine with knowing those. My lack of skill when it comes to learning tongues isn't exactly helpful either.

"If the moment calls for something like it"--You mean for the sake of being funnier with text speak? If so, I admit I'm with you there.
If you're fluent with 3 languages, how are you terrible with languages? It seems like you would need to be fairly skilled to be trilingual.
π: 0 β©: 1
FoxLoxley In reply to HEATHSHHH [2010-12-21 13:02:31 +0000 UTC]
Actually, I am quite bad with languages, despite the fact I speak 3. Slovak was my first language, and Czech is very similar to Slovak. Similar to the point that the two are mutually understood with no issue. Recently, this has changed somewhat for whatever reason, so I count Czech separately. And I moved to Canada nine years ago, so I'd like to think I'm pretty fluent in that.
If I were to start learning other languages though, I'd most likely try Russian or another Slavic tongue as they are all relatively similar in terms of grammar, conjugation, and the actual words.
Speaking of typos, my last post has an incomplete sentence because I must have accidentally deleted part of it and now it just looks like an incomplete thought.

HEATHSHHH In reply to FoxLoxley [2010-12-21 13:36:01 +0000 UTC]
Ah. Typo forgiven. If only DA had allowed you to delete and quickly re-post your comment.
I'm not sure if I would consider myself good with languages or not. I don't have much to judge that on considering that yes, Russian has gone quite well so far and yes, Spanish was splendid year one, but it was questionable that second year. Of course, I'm tempted to blame the teacher I had as she had a terrible attitude toward teaching (which I consider especially horrible in a foreign language teacher) and ruined Spanish for others (basically all of my friends that also had her included) so it wasn't just me. When she called on you in class, she managed to make you feel like an idiot whether or not you were correct. I think it's probably a talent of sorts to be that negative. I somewhat went on strike against Spanish after that year so it's no wonder that I can't remember a lot of it. Plus I had difficulty with the Spanish accent and have enjoyed Russian infinitely more because the Russian accent comes more easily.

Thanks
If you enjoy learning languages, you don't really need to be good at learning them because you're enjoying it whether it's easy or difficult. Personally, I didn't enjoy French as much as I would have hoped, and I regret taking it all through high school as it just served to lower my average. It also seemed that the further you went up the ladder, the worse the teacher. My grade 9 French teacher was a significantly better speaker of French, not to mention a better teacher overall compared to my grade 12 French teacher. But then again, it may as well have been my lack of enthusiasm that hampered the experience.
I wouldn't worry too much about getting the correct accent down right away, or trying too hard to mimic it perfectly. It's something that comes with learning the language, I'd say. Also, Russian is much less of a phonetic language than, say, French is, so having the correct accent is far less consequential when speaking.

HEATHSHHH In reply to FoxLoxley [2010-12-21 15:33:32 +0000 UTC]
Ah, yes, that is true. Interest makes an enormous difference in learning languages like with learning anything. I suspect that when poorer teachers are placed in upper level classes, it's at least partially because the better teachers are needed early to lay a sound foundation to build on. And then, of course, chances are that upper level teachers have been around longer and lose enthusiasm for teaching as the years go on, but we probably shouldn't get into that as it unfortunately often happens in all subjects.
I don't worry about perfecting the accent immediately--well, anymore than I ever bother myself over perfecting something of interest as much as possible. It's a tendency I can't (or won't) particularly help, but I am generally satisfied with my pronunciation at this point. Thanks for the advice and thank you for providing such a lovely conversation! I've enjoyed talking to you.

HEATHSHHH In reply to CogWheelHeart [2010-12-20 23:46:51 +0000 UTC]
I like the way that it's structured, the grammar, the way that all parts agree with one another. Russian rules are more consistent than they are in English and the language as a whole (so far as I know--I've only been studying it for a year and a half) makes more sense than the English language, not that that is saying much. English is ridiculous.
Of course, I also love the way it sounds or else I wouldn't have sought to learn it in the first place. Some people thing that it's a very rough-sounding language, but that's mostly a misconception as it's not nearly as guttural as German and only a few letters sound gruff. Another thing that I appreciate about Russian is that it's more versatile than English in some ways. Take sentence structure for example. Russian can be structured the same way that English works, only it's more flexible because the structure can be swapped around some.
Also I've seemed to "click" with the language a bit. I definitely enjoy it more than when I took Spanish years ago.

CogWheelHeart In reply to HEATHSHHH [2010-12-21 00:15:50 +0000 UTC]
Oh, interesting. Surprised to see someone liking Russian for its grammar. .)
> Russian can be structured the same way that English works, only it's more flexible because the structure can be swapped around some.
Not "some", but "like crazy". I like to use a common example of "I love you" - whereas in English rearranging the sentence barely makes any sense without some help from stuff like "it's" or "only", in Russian any combination of "Ρ", "ΡΠ΅Π±Ρ" and "Π»ΡΠ±Π»Ρ" makes perfect sense and expresses different emotions and meanings.
But I'm being overly patriotic here.
I wish you best of luck in mastering it - as far as I know, conjugation is a nightmare in Russian.

HEATHSHHH In reply to CogWheelHeart [2010-12-21 00:22:29 +0000 UTC]
Thank you and feel free to be overly patriotic. I've heard Russian's much more expressive than English, but I'm still learning to see and know the extent of that for myself as I've only had 3 courses at this point.
