Yes, it is a beauty to see in real and on a shelf.

I was looking for an in-game image of it, but I couldn't find one. I wanted to see if the leather straps really follow the book and then "bulge out" over the metal pins, or if maybe there is a second layer of leather straps under the pins (and the pins are fixed within these two leather straps).
It seems a it odd for the leather to "stick" to the book otherwise if you know what I mean. It's not meant as critique in any way, just a comment on a detail. I, like you, obsess over the small details

Here is the only known picture for this book:

I made the book so it does not open but it is passible to make the straps to come of.
There is no drawing of the back of the book s I had to improvise.
For the leather strapping to follow the book as they do...we'll it's a craftsmen tool of the trade trick..

Yeah, that's the one
Well, I suppose the straps are there to NOT come off, but I suppose it would be cool if it could be opened in some manner. The back of the straps would probably just be the back end of the leather straps, no metal pins, no nails. That's how I envision it, either way.
Did you rebind the book with blank/D'ni lettered paper and put in a linking image? That would be way cool. It's closed and shut, but YOU know that it is complete inside. It's like when I painted the shoe laces on the pilots in my model aircrafts when I was younger. They couldn't be seen but I knew they were there

Having the inside pages written in D'ni and having a linking pannel would be cool but this one was not really my personal objective.
Probably if some one would do it, it would be neet but for my book it would have been a waste of money.

Yeah, I know. I found another image of the book by the way:

And a thumbnail of the 3D model:

Unfortunately, no image on how it looks on the backside (probably because in the game, there is none)

The first image is the top view also.

Love your Myst book. Any idea to continue it with Riven and Exile?

JonasEklundh In reply to uncured-kun [2009-03-09 11:02:57 +0000 UTC]
Yes, that's the idea - to cram all five games into the same project (only, divide into five books as well). Somehow, I'm not coming back on track on this project, probably due to a lot of personal and relational problems :/
Ah well, here's hoping for a turn-around on that soon enough.
