Oookay so the characters are based on the notion that the great composers live on in their music. They are like physical projections of the composer's music and needless to say art, reflects the creator so they assume the identities of their respective composer as well. These spirits are called Composers and are an entirely female one-gender race because they're like divine embodiments of music and the patron saint of music, Saint Cecilia, is female. So yes, musical lesbian moms lmao
They exist on a sort of spiritual plane called, well, the spirit world (based on Beethoven's quote "Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life") but can visit the human world any time they want lmao. The spirit world is a vast vast place and encompasses all types of music from ancient to modern, but each composer has their own special "island" in the spirit world that represents their place in music history. The island is an outward projection of the composer's music and often reflects their mental state, i.e. Beethoven's island is darkish, a total mess and has a lot of storms happening on it and Bach's one is a very well-organized and elegant Baroque church. The environment and landscape of an island can be manipulated at the composer's will, and if island gets damaged in some way, the composer falls sick (until they recover because islands regenerate over time) or gets corrupted. If the island is razed completely, they will die (but I assure you, achieving total destruction of an island is nigh impossible). Most pop musicians, being recent, do not have islands or musical spirits and thus only can exist in the spirit world as robot creatures.
The series' plotline is - pop music declaring war on classical music. The pop stars and their respective robots set out to stop classical music fans from listening to music - and the composers try to protect their own art basically. However, things take a turn for the unexpected. This being a me work, expect tons of plot twists and strange happenings. Oh, and keep an eye on Scriabin for me please, something seems to be fishy about her...

The lesbian thing was actually kind of a joke on the series having an improbably female cast, but the notion that (most of) the girls are lesbians isn't too farfetched a guess because, well, since they take after their respective composers' identities, they probably take after their romantic preferences as well. And most of them were attracted to women, so I put two and two together, and...

Undertale is actually really deep holy poop I opened up a ton of spoilers on TV tropes and got blasted by all the layers man I'm impressed now seriously it's too well-done and everything i can't

oh yeah Bach apparently lives in the human world because her presence in the spirit world is too strong that she's practically nigh invincible there and can last really darn long even when neglecting her island's upkeep (too many defenses there lmao)
Mozart moved in with B as well because she (M) was bored of the spirit world, later a certain three other composers move in to complete the Inside Out/Monster Strike Composer crew
Needless to say, Bach, Mozart and Beethoven are the most powerful composers to date. they all have powers relevant to their personality, musical style, compositions etc e.g. beethoven has super strength and can control an array of natural elements. she can generate a literal rain cloud over her head, and if you tick her off enough let's just say you can roast your marshmallows
No Mozart, you can't roast the Salzburg chocolate. It'll melt.
