Oh wow! I see from your page your studying graphic art and modeling. Good for you! I'm sure you know way more then I do already. I am self taught and I'm sure I have missed a lot of good things along the way. Do you enjoy working in Photoshop? That's my favorite app by far, you can be so creative and that's were the magic happens! Looks like your doing really well with your organic modeling too! That's wonderful! I have just scratched the surface with modeling. I have created several clothing models with a little program called MD2, Marvelous Designer. It creates dynamic cloth and the mesh is tri-poly. I suck at UV mapping but I'm still learning. There is so much to learn but I'm so obsessed. hehe I hope your able to follow your career path in CG graphics and I wish you the very best of luck! Yea!

Hey,

Thanks for the long comment. I enjoy those
Yes, as a matter of fact I do enjoy working in Photoshop. It's relaxing and I don't get nearly as frustrated as I do with Maya lol. I have never heard of any of the 3D software you use. I use Autodesk Maya and Zbrush for my stuff. I would have liked to have been self taught. I think I would have enjoyed it more, but oh well I never enjoyed organic modelling at the start. One has to be so much more accurate with organics then you would with hard surface because of the anatomy but I really enjoy it now

You have JUST scratched the surface with modelling? Really? It seems like you have done A LOT of character models unless I'm mistaken and they are all done in Photoshop? I'm still getting the hang of UV mapping. I enjoy it now actually since I'm a lot better at it but it is so tedious and time consuming.

Thank you so much for the wish. I hope to be done soon (June) so I can move on. I have a big future ahead of me and it is being put on hold because of my studies. Any ways, take care and happy learning.

Hello! Your most welcome! I hear you, PS just seems to come naturally. You probably have not heard of the apps I use since they are pretty much low end apps. hehe I would love to give 3DS Max a spin, but the steep price just pushes it a bit for me at this point. How do you like Maya? I've heard good things about that app and some of the results I have seen are just amazing! I think you did it the right way though by learning correct habits for your work. I struggle to figure things out, but I do enjoy the challenge. hehe I would like to try organic modeling, however sculpting is not exactly my strong point. hehe It's looks very fun and intuitive though. I still have so much to learn but I really enjoy the challenges it brings.

Yep, I have only created a handful of clothing models as I just started last year. The characters I use are 3d models that have been created by artists on sites like Daz 3D, Renderosity and Runtime DNA. I do create most of my own morphs and textures and I hand paint all of the hair, makeup, and some small clothing items though. One of these days I would like to create my very own character, but I think I will require much more powerful software. hehe
UV mapping is very tedious, but I'm getting used to it and it's not too bad if you turn up the tunes and get in the groove. hehe A necessary evil I'm thinking.

Wow, your almost finished then, June is not far away! Good for you! You seem to have a passion for this awesome art medium and I think you will do great! Thanks and the same to you! Have a great week!

KeidoGraphfx In reply to Kachinadoll [2012-02-28 00:40:20 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow! Well you have a nice touch for hair, definitely. It sounds like you do art on top of art that is already created to get your inspiration from I just fantasize to get my inspiration, I spend hours and hours just looking at other artists work until I get to anxious and then I just hop to it and create something, lol. I do have a lot of passion for this art but I also have a lot of procrastination as well. I don't know why. I find it hard to start a piece but once I start it I'm enjoying it :^). I have a lot of work to get done by June and I'm worried I am not going to get it done on time. Thanks for the encouragement ^o^

I like Maya, It's my favourite modelling program a long side Zbrush. Maya I believe is the standard film/gaming program that is used. You can download programs to use. Find 3D's Max some where for free and download it. I'm not afraid to say that I have downloaded Maya and Zbrush cause there would have been NO WAY for me to do my work without it and NO WAY I am spending that much money on a program, especially since companies are always bringing out newer versions. I bought Photoshop CS4 how ever but a few months after I bought it, Adobe brought out CS5, lol so.

Thanks for the talk. You have a great week too!

Kachinadoll In reply to KeidoGraphfx [2012-02-28 02:30:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, I love painting hair. hehe I get too impatient to wait for hair props to render and I prefer to just spend the time painting my own hair. haha

Well, sort of. There are stores that sell a standard model called V4.2 (Victoria) They create the mesh and some basic textures to go with it. Then you can purchase new skin textures and hair for the base model or you can create your own. I have not learned how to create the actual skin textures yet so I normally purchase the skin textures that have been created by certain vendors specifically for the particular base model. I get the basic skin texture and add all my own details and some of the morphs to individualize my character. Then I model some of the clothing and render the character. Then I import the character's render into PS and that's were I do all the finishing work. hehe It's kind of odd, but it makes the process go so much quicker then modeling everything from scratch. I actually do just what you do to get my inspiration. I look at hundreds of images each day to try and learn new techniques and style and apply them to my work. Inspiration is a funny and fickle thing, it seems to come and go when you least expect it. hehe I think once you have finished school and are on your way, you will find the passion will increase like crazy. hehe That's a big reason why I enjoy DA. There is so much inspiration here and I love viewing many different forms of art. Yea! Plus you get to interact with so many different and talented artists it really helps to widen your perspective of art in general.

I should give the program a little test run with a trial and I'm sure I will. I think I need to have a better grasp on 3D modeling first though. hehe It is really amazing how quickly technology is advancing, it's like you purchase a product and before you get it loaded to your system, it's already outdated. hehe boo!

I hope your able to complete all your requirements in time and get your school all done and out of the way Yea! What a great feeling that would be as well as a good accomplishment. You have so much to look forward to and I hope the path is a smooth one for you! weeeee!
