It can be daunting at first. Your local DNR, VFW and NRA could help you get started. Most places offer classes as well. Hit my up if you're ever in Minnesota.

Um, kind of depends on what kind of detail it is. Part of the way I draw is to simplify things like frill or textures or engravings even I suppose. Point is that it's unlikely to affect pricing because I'll find a way to simplify it until it all averages out.
If you have a specific character in mind, feel free to show me and I'll tell you if it would cause a problem.

Assuming that's a Bioshock 2 Big Sister (link didn't work but I guessed from filename), yeah that's the kind of thing where the price would be the same because details would get simplified. Not left out, mind you, just simplified.
