I did, I've been weeping silently in a corner for a few days. I've been re-reading all my WDs from back in the mid-90s before there even was a "Specialist Games." I'm not bitter lol.

Yeah, I heard the rumours a couple of weeks ago and went into GW to confirm/deny - they denied it (I foolishly believed them0 so I held off buying anything. Then I noticed stuff disappearing from the site so i had a bit of a panic buy of Necromunda stuff (which is now being specially cast apparently)

I'm guessing FW will recast the stuff though? Or are they completely obliterating the existence of the best games?

yeah going through a mixture of anger and disappointment (seems over the top but makes me feel a bit hollow as if a cultural part of my childhood/teenhood has been ripped away -started playing 1996), I had a feeling this day was coming for a long time which is why I'd been so strict with completing my fleets rather than starting new ones. Unfortunately I was late in finding out and now I'm a chaos battleship down (balls) but I'm more bothered about all those plans I had for new fleets (tau, rogue trader, black templars)- FW have pulled all their lines too so I'm thinking a recast is unlikely. Plus I was hoping to have a couple more necromunda gangs (as it had some of the best minis made)and an epic (scale) snowglobe. I'm not just spitting the dummy when I say I'm put off buying into 40k now, it was that the specialist games fleshed out the setting in a way that kept me interested in the main games still. I don't totally blame GW for pulling the plug as they transfer from metal to finecast but if they'd continued to invest just a little back in 2005 they'd still be attracting a market of mature/obscure players. It's not like SG wasn't turning over a profit, it just wasn't big enough profit. Also being that old school gamer (probably like yourself) it annoys the hell out of me how GW and their fans keep returning to the argument of it being a company about selling minatures rather than selling gaming. There's nothing special about GW minis, it's the setting and the gaming interaction that make them special. Anyway mini rant over. Bad times, might just delve into BL products and become a hermit.

That's exactly when I started too, with a box of Nurgle Plague Marines. I'm not too fussed about 40k now, I'm doing one last project and that's it really. It's too bloody expensive anyway, even if buying from eBay.

Completely agree with you there, it's all about the setting for me, most of my blog posts are fluff-related (it's cheaper...) The miniatures these days are horrible - too much going on desgin wise.

Haha, that sounds like a plan. Never been able to get into the BL stuff myself, never liked the Horus Heresy stuff - it reads like a bad telenovella, but that's just me :/ Ciaphas Cain is the one series I've really been tempted by, even if it is a carbon copy of Flashman lol.

oh.. and one more thing, it's the way they dealt with it in their usual fashion that annoys me the most, not releasing any information, not having a month of making it to demand for all those with half finished projects, and as in your case (and others I've read) actually denying it was happening. I'm not saying the store staff knew, but I am saying the company did and they should have made sure their staff knew. It creates bad blood.
