Very welcome, you have some fantastic MTG Alters.
Finally got around to finding some of the MTGSalvation artists here on DA.

Yeah, I'd be curious to know.
I don't alter myself, I lack the traditional art talents, but I love lurking the forum.

No problem at all, found you off mtgfan on tumblr .
You have some magnificent MTG alters, always a fan of great artwork.
May I inquire what you generally charge for alters (and perhaps more specifically, pony-related alters if you're still willing to undertake those haha)?

wow thats awesome, had no idea I was being spread throughout the net.
Honestly I really enjoy doing the mlp alters and of course pricing can be discussed via email @ cbalters@gmail.com
thanks again

There's only a few of you guys out there with the talent, and the affiliation with mlp xD
Yeah though, I've just recently gotten into Tumblr, but there's certainly much more of a flow of information there than I expected.
A website of mine was getting spread around for a while, which would explain the few hundred extra page views the small site received in a day.
I'll pop you an email, though specifics aren't something I quite know.

I feel like there's going to be a huge new amazing thing that will be added to the site in the near future. Sort of like an online game that's been sort of stagnant in releasing new updates suddenly becoming active and bursting forth with a slew of awesome updates.

I don't personally feel the site needs to be updated. It's the community that holds it together.
Sure a built in auto-refresh would be nice, but beyond that I can't see it needing much more.

Are you taking any photography courses in the future? I'd like to see anything that comes out of that.

I have no plans at the moment to take any photography courses, unless I can find a way to get into one at my college (I think they're restricted to art majors though and have prerequisites). So at this point, looks like it's all going to be personal stuff - which I don't really do a whole lot of outside public events. D:
Thanks for the interest!

I understand. The reason why I haven't been getting anything out is because I don't travel often and there's a certain limit to how much you can suck out of a typical American suburban neighborhood. Of course I could go into abstract art, but I don't have the sophisticated technology or knowledge to operate that technology to make that "effect" that is pretty cliche of a lot of photos here on Deviant (meaning like macros of flowers, household items, or sunset scenery with a lot of editing to make it look multi-colored and almost surreal)

MagicalSamurai In reply to Class-Phyla-Order [2011-05-21 03:02:33 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I can see where that stems from.
For me it's much the same, there's only so many times that I can walk around my neighborhood..
I have a bit of equipment, but it boils down to the same thing - I'd rather go somewhere and see something new to work with than try and be creative with the same stuff I've already shot.
I used to be more interested in the manipulations as well, but lately I just haven't had the drive to pop open photoshop for some photo alters.. I have instead though been fiddling with CSS and profile designs on various sites >.> - Almost a waste of time with the progress I've been making lately.

Still, there's a thrill in challenge. There's a thrill of being limited by equipment in that you must rely on your raw skills and not on the skills provided by an editing software to "touch up" your image with the click of the mouse.

MagicalSamurai In reply to Class-Phyla-Order [2011-05-22 17:40:47 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'd agree with that.
But there's also a thrill in working with an image after you've already done what you could with it given your materials. Touching up doesn't have to mean correcting something, it can mean going beyond what you've done and creating something completely new or different.
That's the kinda stuff I like in the editing process.
Also, if you have the chance - I'd work with film, and get into the darkroom. It's a whole different process, and you can really get some control over what you're doing in there.

I do the same. For example currently I'm having work and all so I'm going back to my old photos (~1,000) and just looking for new material to interpret or "touch up" in a new and surprising way. I've found some great photos that I can't believe I haven't missed, and I get new ideas almost all the time. Both taking photos and touching them up are very enriching learning journeys.

MagicalSamurai In reply to Class-Phyla-Order [2011-05-23 17:22:46 +0000 UTC]
Yeah - enriching is the right word. And that's a good idea, I should take a look back at some old stuff (especially while I'm home, which is where all my photos are stored).
