Well, you know my complaints about it when I haven't even played the game. And I can be sure it's Nintendo being sellouts. Incidentally, I noticed this comment because I was rereading one of my journal entries to prepare a rant about the Kid Icarus Uprising fanbase, or failbase as I'll call it. They make the Fire Emblem's own failbase look DEEP, believe me.

I like your word 'failbase'. That's a really nice name to describe it. xD
And, I'm not too much into Kid Icarus so I don't know how the fanbase is as I usually don't pay attention to it, but man that sounds like a drag if they can make the FE (from what I've heard) sound deep.

Which one is your favorite FE game anyway?

Honestly, I can't decide on that Q because if you ask me, none of the FEs age well at all, such that I'm generally turned off from playing them anyway. Maybe FE6 doesn't age as poorly, but that wouldn't say much, and a Hand Axe Berserker boss in Chapter 9 would be so fun to deal with anyway, bloody unconditionally listed crit on a dual-range hard hitter.

If you're wondering, KIU's failbase basically has zealots out the Linking ***. They claim to be automatically awesome just for having stronger weapons. This despite the Value system's mere point. (Basically, a weapon can have a given weapon modifier but having the modifier increases the weapon's Value, which you don't want because it will increase the penalty for dying.) Not only that, they claim I just want to win, never mind that I could have long ago opted to wade through an inherently counterintuitive weapon fusion system or simply use a cheat device and boom, instant dream weapon just add the only thing the Taurus Arm makes at 9 AM. Instead, I go with a weapon type I know from experience with the general concept is the most likely to suffer from any balance flaws, and consequently dug up Grid Reading as a way to turn VS club combat into psychological warfare. Sadly, thanks to KIU having horrendous amounts of power creep, Grid Reading is rendered a joke, while players come up with combos with increasingly ridiculous effectiveness that pile on more dirt on the game's counter play.

It gets worse when the players want to claim that I somehow suck at the game. God forbid I'm basically some Squishy Wizard who is slow as sin and I can still do UKEMIS reliably in an already fast paced game. Oh no. That would involve the idea of rewarding players for mastering personal weaknesses. We can't have that. It's even more insulting when they act like they beat me in a 1V1 rather than a FFA, not even following the terms I provided, where I keep getting shot by other players using STAVES.

And while the FE failbase has indifferent people, the KIU failbase has HYBRIDS of trolls, elitists, and combo freaks. I think the latter is WORSE, and it's insulting that that happens when KIU had potential to be balanced, but Project Sora had to keep messing up left and right.

That really does sound annoying, It seems a lot of 3DS games have weird diehard fans that I will never be able to understand. And they always claim somebody sucks at x game. Hybrids? Dear God, destroy them all. They're annoying, too.

Project Sora is the company that made Kid Icarus Uprising. It's defunct now though. It was a subsidiary of HAL dedicated to making the game. Then they quit and never looked back, because the power grid system was totally a bad idea somehow deserving of being lost in the sea of thoughtless nonsense.

The failbases just want to pwn people like n00bs. They're bullies. What's to understand? And it's even worse when the game rewards that stupidity, not this thing called learning the game, learning its useful little nuances, etc.

Fire Emblem's failbase...yeah. I actually have a journal post about it. I'm sure you could find it without too much looking.

Honestly, I haven't played it, but what I have seen of it only impresses me as far as aesthetics go if anything. Otherwise, it screams Pandering to the Fanbase, involves things that irk me in general (time travel in an FE, what), and I'm hearing it even comes at the cost of the gameplay. And this opinion is also shared by a reviewer who actually played the game:

Neither have I actually. I'm not one to prejudge games, but Awakening was ... I'm not sure how to describe it. I got this vibe from it just not being as grea. People I know say it wasn't as good as FE7 and I agree, but I suppose it's a bias as FE7 is basically my first and favorite Fire Emblem game.

Time travel in FE sounds like a true wtf.

I'll check that link out, and I'll get to reading the note.
