Hows it been?
We haven't exchanged any data lately.

Oh hello there! Long time, no data exchange indeed!
Yes yes I know, my gallery wasn't updated in a longer time nor have I given too much feedback. I am planning on posting new art and revisiting the old (haven't I said this already? Oh, I did...), only that I feel a bit overtired and it's not that easy to make yourself come back to work.

I really do not know what to think of it. Living machines are one thing. Spying is another and it appears it may not be that far from going onto a completely new level. Oh, well...

Have you seen some tech news lately? Things got crazily hectic now!
- an AI that passed the turing test
- leaks about another AI called "MonsterMind" built by the NSA for military use
- Matrix-like virtual reality built by google to test their self-driving cars
- articles about how robots will make a vast amount of people make unemployed IN THE NEAR FUTURE
- nanobot tests
- ...and more!
Sheesh, science-fiction is getting real! I will write a journal covering these somewhere in the near future!

Yes, starting from the last years of the 20th century the speed of developing new technologies is immensely increasing!
- successfully printing human skin out of a 3d printer-based device
- Google willing to index and store in their database all possible content on the Internet and beyond (worse than N S A?)
- a Japanese roboticist designing androids so real they can already be mistaken for alive human beings! And still he says he's not yet fully satisfactory with that
- β¦and this is just a droplet in the ocean
It is really fascinating and thrilling to see all of these becoming real, but from the other hand I am somehow concerned. Many major inventions were often abused. Imagine what they could do with these?

I might sound silly, but I am getting the feeling that we serve technological advancement more than it serves us. Prehaps one day it will go without us as a hindering factor.

MrRobotov In reply to 640KofWertzui [2014-09-02 22:34:54 +0000 UTC]
I would not worry about machines realizing their superiority and turning against humans. This is a scenario that movies want to implement in human minds for years already. I'd say that today's machines are not even on a level of an organic cell. A cell can still sustain without any supervision and even successfully create a copy of its own β real-world robots, on the other hand, still cannot. If the danger will ever come from the side of technology, it is most likely to be caused by some human individuals that have everything under control.

Of course today's robots are not on that level. But the speed of technical advancement is accelereating and humans become more and more dependent on it while automatization becomes more prominent on every field.
Okay, I admit that I have jumped on the bandwagon there, but more and more articles are coming on tech forums and magazines that are exploiting the not so distant future possibility of:
-Robots an AIs taking over in the "third economic sector" including intellectual and creative jobs and causing a massive uneployment rate
-Technology turning against humanity, because in the very high level of automatization humans become a hindering factor in efficient work, not because robots become sentinent beings.
And these are not just out-of-this-world speculations, these are based on what we are working on today.
