I love your portrait editing! Did you teach yourself how to do it? Or did you learn from somewhere else? Because, sadly, I am in need for a step by step tutorial with instructions

I learned simply by opening Photoshop and playing around! You just have to keep experimenting, and eventually you'll learn what you need to know
Unfortunately, I'm not gonna put up a tutorial - I'm gonna show you what I did, and what I did it with - the rest is up to you to find out

After seeing how you use curves.. I really have no idea how to use curves. Hahaha. I feel so stupid.

LOL no I really am just a noob. I do barely any editing for most of my photos. Just levels, slight vignetting, cropping. Sometimes if I really screw up knowing I don't have a GND filter I'll digitally fix it. But I think I've only had to do that like.. twice. Haha. And then for infrared photos sometimes I'll swap the red and blue channels in the channel mixer, which is a common post processing technique for digital infrared. Haha. But yeah, I messed around with the curves thing, I mean just for like 2 seconds but I might know SORT OF how you do it. Just make a curve adjustment layers and use brushes and what not to get what you want. But I don't know how you choose what curves to use for each adjustment layer, that's beyond me.

I really appreciate you puttting up these .psd files so the rest of us can gain some useful photoshopping knowledge! I always thought it was the camera or filter you used that gave your work such a unique look. Now i have hope of being able to create a similar kind of thing with tools i already have!

that "never" means "almost never". i mostly work with levels, color balance, selective color... but from now i'll try with curves, of course

almost everybody is doing these kinds of edits today with photoshop. i think it is very essential and makes the images much more better and pleasing to look at.
you get the chance to show the viewer what they cant see with the naked eye and give a better impression on the mood of the photograph..
i just want to thank you for starting something like this and want to say it has helped me.
