I couldn't help it, it's fantastic! Seeing paintings like that makes me yearn for money so that I can buy them and hang them around my house!!!!! Excellent work, but one look through your gallery is evidence you can expect little else from you!! Sorry I didn't comment on the piece, I was feeling sluggish that day!

Muchas gracias !!!

Por una cabeza de un noble potrillo
que justo en la raya afloja al llegar
y que al regresar parece decir:
no olvides, hermano,
vos sabes, no hay que jugar...
Losing by a head of a noble horse
who slackens just down the stretch
and when it comes back it seems to say:
don't forget brother,
You know, you shouldn't bet.

Oh yeah, for a second there, I forgot you were "down-under." Does it really get that cold in Australia? I HATE the cold!

I live in Qld, so it doesn't really get too cold, the worst it has been so far is 2 degrees Celcius.... but again, I reitterate, I am from QLD - Our Autumn can hit 40 DC so 2 is freezing for me!!!!!!!!!!!
But yes Australia gets cold. We have snow here also.

Wow! I HATE the cold and that's plenty cold enough for me! It's funny, but when most people in North America picture Australia, they picture sunny beaches or the desert-like outback. I don't think I've EVER seen a movie (or a documentary) about Australia in the winter!

That's cause most Australian movies are set in the 'outback', like crocodile dundee or Australia, which are all set in the Northern Territory. Oohh, have you see 'Wolf Creek'? Another Australian NT located film, but it scared the shit out of me!!!! I can't think of a single film that is set down south..... I guess it's just not as interesting at the bottom!! Oh, wait, there was Dying Breed that came out last year. I haven't seen it though, it's about this inbred family of cannibals in Tasmania..... yuck!! One of the best Aussie films I've seen is 'The Sherelee', very emotional. The other is 'Garage Days' - BRILLIANT!! It's funny and music oriented and very australian - and I mean Australian in the way we ACTUALLY are, not the way we seem to want the world to think we are!! Its the story of a young garage band in Sydney, Australia trying to make it big with one small catch....

Oh! I'll have to catch "Garage Days," it's been showing on an HD channel here! I think Wolf Creek has also been showing here on the Sci-Fi channel. I have several friend living in Australia, including a Vietnam-veteran/airbrush artist who moved there after the war.
I hear it's an absolutely beautiful country with diverse terrain and friendly people. I would love to visit, although I hear the plane trip is incredibly long.
I'll have to look up the other film you mentioned. Of course, I've seen the most popular films coming out of Australia including the "Mad Max" franchise. I loved "Breaker Morant" and "Walkabout" and "Gallipoli," and "Undead" was good for a laugh (it was a horror/comedy).
I just read several sites that mention Australia having a very long, very successful film industry, winning many coveted awards. I'll have to look up more movies from there. American cinema lacks any originality (all explosions and shootings) which should be clear by their penchant for comic book heros and movies based on video games.

I am suprised Wolf Creek is showing on the sci-fi channel! It's a straight up and down horror film. Does Garage Days have Pia Miranda in it?? If so its the same one.
I know what you mean about lacking originality, however the same goes for here really. The only difference is that I have grown up with it, so it would be new and different for you, but for me its just another outback story, know what I mean?
Yeah, the plane trip is about 17 hours long. I've been to the states and trust me, the plane trip sucks!! Unless you really dig being confined to a small airborne vehicle that could drop at any time with nothing to do but read the same book over and over and over.....
I tend to get very excited about Australia though and tend also to get very passionate about Aussie things which leads to what seems like propaganda messages and emails... so sorry for that!!

Yeah, and I thought Wolf Creek was just going to be a pseudo-shock, schlock horror movie. I'll have to pay more attention the next time it comes on. Yeah, the Garage Days that has been showing IS from Australia and IS about a garage band.
I'll have to catch them both. It's not bad to promote the art of your country and I suppose that the "outback" films are equivalent to the American westerns.

Wolf Creek is a shock horror film, however it is incredibly well acted and it's based on a true story. The 'truth' in the film is that the three people depicted DID go missing and the result is true, however what actually happened didn't necessarily happen to these three people; the script was written from evidence of what he had done to some of his many other victims. That's what made it the most scary for me. Not the best film to ever come out of Aus, but it is extremely well acted. The guys who plays Ivan (the serial killer) used to be on a children's television program called 'layschool', which I grew up watching, so it was very very weird to see him as evil!!!

Wow! I'll really have to be sure to catch it. I didn't realize it was based on truth, and seeing an actor from a children's show you used to watch has GOT to be strange!
