Hi,
I'm not sure if you remember me, I had that one picture titled '.I'll try to save you.' It was a photo of a birds egg that was unhatched. You gave me some great information on how to helo it and I was wondering if you know anything about older birds?
You see I was walking down the street with one of my family members when we came across a bird on the sidewalk, he was just sitting there. I knew this bird was alive because it was breathing and occasionally opens his eyes and chirps. I rummaged through somebodies garbage that they put on the side of the road and found something to carry it in. Now this poor hurt, helpless bird is on my deck in a big container (without a lid so it can leave when it's back to normal, and it can get air) with food and water, but I'm not sure if I should do anything...? Or if I can do anything.
If you can help me that would be fantastic!

I know I am replying late ((sorry )) but as a matter of fact, I can help you. Right now I'm raising an orphaned cardinal, and here are the things that you need in case you ever come across another baby bird...
If there is a Petland in your area, visit it and look for a container of bird supplement formula called 'exact'. It should come with a blue measuring cup and a feeding chart that says how much of the formula to give the baby as it grows. If you are unsure how old the baby is, look at its feathers. If it has no feathers except for a few white feathers on its head, back, and stubby wings, then it is around 1-2 days old. If it has signs of growing feathers, such as small tubes growing out of the skin on the wings, tail, chest, and back, then it is around 3-4 days old. If feathers are starting to sprout out of the tubes and tubes are starting to grow longer on the head, tail, wings, back, and chest, then it is 5 days or older. On the chart, it will usually say, for example, 'one part exact, 2 parts water', it means that you fill up the blue measuring cup once with the exact formula, pour it in a bowl, then fill it two more times with water. When you are done creating the mixture, place it in the microwave for about 10 seconds. DO NOT SPOON FEED!! If possible, buy a small syringe and suck up the formula with that, then stick the syringe down the throat and plunge. You can tell when the bird is full by looking at the crop: a pouch located on the neck. You will definitely see it grow in size. When the crop is full ((if you think the baby is too full or in later feeding times it will not eat, read the feeding chart. It has instructions on how to treat the baby if you think something is wrong)) wrap the baby in a dish towel ((only wrap the towel around it tightly if it is 1-3 days old because it can't hold itself up, and if the baby falls on its back, it can't get up. Whenever a bird is on its back for too long, it dies)) and put it somewhere away from pets or where it won't be knocked over. For my cardinal, I use a hat and place a thick shirt at the bottom to make sure the bird doesn't poop in it, and I mold the shirt to the shape of the hat so it resembles the shape of a nest, then I take another thick shirt and place it on top of the bird and I tuck it in so the baby is free to move around and re-position itself but it won't fall on its back. Check the baby every hour of the day ((do not feed at night, mother birds don't feed their babies at night, and it will also keep you from getting up every hour and not getting any sleep )) When you check the baby, make clicking sounds with your tongue or kissing sounds. Anything loud to get its attention. If it is hungry, it will open its mouth and chirp wildly and continue chirping until you feed it. Sometimes, like my cardinal, when the baby chirps it doesn't mean that it wants food, but that it wants to be cuddled with. If you are with the baby for a long time, and talk to it, it will think you are its mother, and it will want to cuddle a lot, so take it with you whenever you can in a dish towel and just cup your hand over it and it will snuggle into it.
If you think the baby is injured when you find it, DO NOT TRY TO RAISE IT! Take it to your nearest avian vet or an animal rescue center. If you have anymore questions, just tell me and I'll try to answer them as best as I can!

I uploaded a picture that I wanted on Deviant ID and it was just labeled as a deviant... it didn't show up next to my name. So I have no idea what to do. Lol, I probably sound like such an idiot. I'm pretty blonde when it comes to things like this
