Well, they thing that they seem to look for isn't whether or not you can draw (obviously, because -I- got in). You should have at least a bit of drawing experience, but it seems like they mostly look at enthusiasm and ideas.

As for presentation, they had me just lay my stuff across a huge table in no particular order and we talked about each one. I'm not sure if it's the same for every Graphic Design since I went into Illustration, but I imagine it's more or less the same.

A lot of what they do is look at the drawing and ask you questions like, "what inspired you to draw this?" or "why did you draw this the way you did?". Stuff like that. It's mostly about the ideas and how you got them.

Also, Sketchbook. VERY MUCHO IMPORTANT. They spent most of the time going through mine. They like seeing a lot of concept work.

Did you use any digital work? Like, anything drawn from photoshop? Did you print it out and show them, or did you use your laptop?

Yup. I used a computer, simply because it looks the way it's supposed to, as opposed to printing it and having the colours being accidentally altered.

Do you have to have a 3D piece?
It can honestly be anything. I brought in a wire and paper mache sculpture of a crow that I did, and some plushies that I made.

I think having a 3D piece would be a good idea... but I dunno what I should do...

You should DEFINITELY get on that.

By the way, your sketchbook doesn't actually have to be a book. It can be anything, even a shoebox full of sketches. So if you're stuck and don't have anything in one book, you can just collect all the sketches you have and pile them into a box.

Yeah, well for the US it started as a free summer so kids could help with harvesting crops. They've been shortening it over the years. I think my sophomore year of HS they shortened summer by a full 2 weeks. Yeahh..... Executives and Principals, and those high up get lots of money from the states/central government for every child that goes to school per day. So 2 weeks is a couple million dollars extra per district....
