Scratchboard is a hard white clay-coated board (paper? I think) covered with a black coat. It came premade, or I think you can make your own, but I never tried that, and don't know how too...
You can use knives, or scratching pens (great for large areas and texture) to scratch out the black, leaving white areas. It is like using ink (kind of), only inverted. It is great fun, you should try it sometimes
