deckhandnagogo [2010-11-05 05:42:16 +0000 UTC]
-Oh boy, what a night! Nagogo stumbles out of the double doors of the resident pier’s local tavern and into the cool evening air after having quite a few drinks. On top of all the troubles to come with being inebriated, he’s caught a particularly nasty cough that has plagued him all day; no doubt the handiwork of the changing season. In the back of his mind, he thinks perhaps he should go visit Kanini, but even if he were sober he would not actually disturb her until he was absolutely desperate…he wasn’t quite fond of her practices despite them being in his benefit.-
Aauug IIIII gotta go find the ship!! Litl lad’s gonna love the lass I hooked up fer ‘im!
-The drunken pirate staggers around the quiet deck giving harsh coughs every few dozen steps or so, looking around at the harbor through blurry eyes in search of the Devil’s Wrath. He doesn’t need to wander far, however, for there appears to be a ship to his left…slightly smaller than the Wrath, but why would Nagogo notice such a trivial detail in his current state? His eyes light up upon seeing the boat, wanting nothing but to crawl into his hammock and tell his “litl lad” all about the night’s adventures. As best he can without tripping over his own tail, he dashes over toward and across the wooden platform serving as a bridge to the deck of the ship.
Little does he know that he is boarding the wrong vessel.-

*Rukaka is inside the shed on the top of the iron ship, carrying her various bottles of medicine and supplies inside. She decided that she needed to put her doctor's supplies spread out throughout the ship so she doesn't have to go to the bottom of the ship to get the necessities. Luckily, this is her last carry from her service elevator to the opposite side of the ship, so when she gets out, she spreads and stretches her arms to the air, giving out a loud and relaxing yawn, closing her eyes.*
Finally, whoo~ Now to get back to watch my reruns~
*Her ears are suddenly interrupted by the sound of ongoing and continuing footsteps and the sounds of a whooping cough. Her eyes open suddenly, and she looks towards the direction the sounds echo throughout the ship. She eyes the intruder going onto the main deck of the ship, wandering around in his drunken stupor.*
Oh~? It seems someone wandered into our ship. *she rests her elbows on the bar, giving a relaxed sigh.* Well, I suppose I have to take care of this before the other girls find out~ *she grabs her doctor's bag and puts it over her shoulder. She then walks down the stairs.*

-Being the less observant person that he is, Nagogo does not seem to notice that his presence has been discovered (not that he’d worry much anyway; this IS the Devil’s Wrath, is it not…?) and continues wandering around on deck, searching for the trapdoor leading downstairs into the men’s quarters. When he can’t seem to find it, this does not concern him in the least; he just topples over onto his back on the planks and looks up at the stars above. Between coughs, he sighs dreamily and lifts a hand as if he were reaching for the stars but they were quite obviously out of his grasp.-
Aahhh, they’re like specks’a gold…

-Suddenly, his vision of the starry sky is blocked by the resident ship's nurse and he recoils sharply backward, trying to catch his breath in between coughs.-
Y-ya...hay wait a sec, who'ere ya? Y'ain't on the Devil's Wrath!
-Oh, but upon closer inspection, it seems that the stranger is a woman, and a daintily dressed one at that. Keronians in clothes were a tad out of the ordinary for Nagogo (other than the occasional bar wench), but perhaps that meant she was some sort of business person. Tch, too bad for him, that meant she was out of his reach...but that wouldn't stop him from trying.
With a toothy grin, he sits up and raises a non-existent eyebrow inquisitively.-

"Herrin' Horde"...?"
-Nagogo eyes his surroundings for a while, finally seeing past his drunken stupor to notice that this ship was /indeed/ significantly different than the Devil's Wrath. It appeared more metallic in nature (and certainly a lot more well-kept) and instead of a double pair of sails, two huge smokestacks towered above them as proof to the power that this ship ran on steam, not at the mercy of Mother Nature.
Feeling a tad bit embarrassed, Nagogo shakily rises to his feet and bluntly addresses Rukaka's question-
N-nah...it ain't nuthin' big, I'll jus--
-He begins to shuffle off in the opposite direction when suddenly a coughing fit seizes him and he hunches over to clutch his chest until the attack has passed after a few moments tick by and he is able to regain his breath.-

*Rukaka leads Nagogo to the interior of the ship. In the inside was just as steel as the outside of the ship, but with doors that would open through hinges and pressure gauges that would require a tight grip to open. Certainly that would tell something about the people living inside the vessel, but some of the doors were open as well. One room was a large and empty hall that had nothing of interest in it and served as a passageway to other sides of the ship. Another room was a mess hall, with one huge table with only seven chairs that were decorated and stylized to suit an individuals needs. Once those two rooms are passed, they reach an end of a long hallway before being introduced to an iron, elevator door. However, the elevator is not there.*
Excuse me for a moment~
*She goes over to a lever and pulls it, and afterwards a series of gears and clicks are heard, and looking at the elevator some steam goes out, and the wire begins to pull up. Now it's time to wait for the elevator~*

-As they toured through the inside of the ship, Nagogo couldn't help but gawk at every little nut and bolt supporting the very walls. This ship was significantly different from his own. For one, it was mainly constructed of steel while theirs was solid wood. Even the furniture is intricately designed whereas almost every single piece of the Wrath's (save for the Captain and his luxuries) was carved from logs. His observations are interrupted by the occasional drunken stumble, but with Rukaka there to provide somewhat of a support, he regains balance fairly quickly.
Then, they stop at the elevator. The deckhand had never seen an elevator before, much less one of iron, and he almost tears away from Rukaka to investigate it. His curiosity is extinguished, however, by the strange hissing sounds it makes and he shies away again, waiting for it to arrive.-

Build~? Hmm~ I suppose you can say we did that~
*Mostly the ship was intact and well polished and fixed, but in reality this ship was most likely stolen from the pekoponians and rebuilt so it would work to their efficency. Some of the residue of rust can show, but overall the ship was in overall nice condition. Besides, it's not like the ship was going to go away at some point. Near the elevator was a board that composed of mostly women's handwriting and some occasionally doodles that look like they were drawn from an eight year old. Some of the handwriting was very brief and organize, while some were all over the place. Perhaps it was a conversation board? Near the board was seven colored dry-erasable markers, each representing a color of the herrings. Most of Rukaka's writing consists of medicine that they should get from her, and some recipes for cooking. Mostly the cooking recipes were there, so the medicine bit was overshadowed.
The elevator clashes and stops, reaching its destination at the two keronians. The elevator doors spring away from each other, and the light next to a speaker turned on. From the speaker was simple ambiance and music that occasionally statics. Inside the elevator was another lever, looking like an old fashioned elevator that was to be controlled manually instead of automatically. While this is true, it does have a lock to make the elevator go at the pace the person wants it to.*
Oh, our ride is here~ *Rukaka walks into the elevator.* Come on now~

-Nagogo hesitates momentarily before boarding this strange "elevator" machine. Once inside, a strange noise, -music-, was playing and the eel tries to locate the source of the sound...unsuccessfully.
As the doors close the two inside, the uncomfortable feeling of being trapped gnaws away at him, but the only visual cue he gives of his uneasiness is his rubbing of thumbs. He remains quiet as Rukaka cranks the elevator until the silence is shattered by another of his coughs-

Hang on tight, the elevator is usually a bit bumpy~
*Rukaka pulls on the elevator lever and a switch is heard. Soon, the elevator begins to go down at a medium pace, and giving enough time to see the other two floor of the ship. On the first basement floor of the ship was a hallway that led to the room that held their treasures and discoveries, and a captain's room that is most commonly used to play around in. The captain's room is not necessarily used much by the herrings that much, but they keep their cleaning supplies there when the herrings have to do work. In the opposite room was a room of cannon balls and ammunition for the heavy artillery, as well as a well polished collection of swords for two of the herrings to enjoy. There is also another dining hall, the food storage, and a relaxation area which consists of a pool and a sauna that was created from a pipe that couldn't be fixed by the crew.
The room passes, and now they reach the second basement level. This hallway seemed to be the most decorated and vibrant of the three, and there is a good reason for that. Once outside the elevator, the air simply smells of cleanliness and essences that were pure and relaxing to the nostrils. There were 3 rooms here: the resting lounges, a stairway to the even lower levels of the ship, and the doctor's office. The resting lounge to the horde is nothing special, but inside was rooms separated by many types of barriers: wood, metal, steel, and plaster. The huge room was separated into 6 wide arrangements of sections to accommodate the bedrooms and living spaces for the herrings. One of the doors was able to be looked into, which contained a decorated bed with a single, circular window and many other personal items that would make the room exuberant as they could make it.
Continuing from the hallway, straight ahead was the entrance to the lower part of the ship. In the lower part was the steam engine and the sound of machinery can be heard from below, as well as the ambient sound of fire. To the opposite of the room was the doctor's office. Many wouldn't recognize it if they were a stranger since it doesn't have the medical symbol on it. All it simply had was a window to look through, and looking through it would not reveal much until the door was open. The door itself is locked.
Rukaka grabs Nagogo's arm and leads him towards her office.*
Alright, let's see...~ *she begins to pat her clothing to locate her keys.*

-This ship seems so much bigger on the inside than on the outside! Nagogo presses his face against the window of the elevator, his eyes dancing over all of the luxuries and treasures that the Devil's Wrath lacked. He felt a sort of pain, not something induced by his health (or current lack thereof) but an overwhelming...oh, what was it...jealousy. On his ship, most of the wealth was surrendered to the Captain, save for in the event they had come across an enormous hoard of treasure, in which case the riches trickled down to the less fortunate members. Even then, the eel hardly ever had any money; what little gold dubloons he did have were spent on rum, bribing women, or both.
Ending on such a thought, he passes the one visible room, making a mental note that there was in fact a /bed/ in it, and one that looked mighty comfortable compared to the hammock he slept in every night. He would have stayed to gawk at the bedroom more if Rukaka hadn’t insisted on dragging him along down the hallway to this “office” of hers.
As the nurse fumbles for her keys, Nagogo strays away from the heat emanating from the general area of the boiler room. Well, this was one hell of a location to put said “office”.-

*Rukaka goes into her bag and begins to dig around in it. Within a glimpse, you could see some medical supplies in there, but they are more or less the common things you would see like a medical kit, some band-aids, and some rum for some reason. Perhaps it's the rum that makes her smile all the time, but then again, she seems like a lightweight anyway, so she probably dodges all kind of drinking. Probably. The rum in her bag is mostly for medicine and a reliever, much like how in the old times soldiers were given hard liquor to relieve and not feel the pain and to feel more relaxed. A great alternative for laughing gas, especially since most of the crew is underage and she can't exactly find any. Finally, she finds her keys and with that, a huge gasp is heard, mostly of relief.*
Found them~
*She unlocks the door and opens the door, flickering the lights on. The room was a very white one, with several posters containing health tips and some...movie posters? Whatever, anyway, within going into the door you can see her receptionist desk, covered and protected by a layer of thin glass, and a small opening to pass through a bottle or any object that can be held from on hand. On the right side of the room was a series of blue chairs, and on the left was two doors, leading to two rooms, one that contained the usual check-up setup in any doctor: a traditional table that is covered by paper and layers a leather seat, along with some antibiotics, a blood-pressure gauge, a stethoscope, some Popsicle sticks, cotton swabs, cotton, a flashlight to see inside the ears and mouth. In the other room was a room to check up for X-Rays, mostly for the body, teeth, and other stuff. In here was also a weigh to determine the weight of keronians, and near it was a BMI chart and an attached yard stick to check height. The chart was mostly composed by herself and stolen from other doctors at the military base when she escaped, but it told what was considered overweight and underweight all the time.
Behind the glass was a copier to copy and print papers, and resting beds for others to sleep on after surgery. One room was preserved for surgery to hold all of the herrings in case of a widespread emergency. Finally, the last door was simply the easiest one to see, and conveniently labeled, her office and personal room.*
Now, will you follow me~ Watch your step now~
*She invites Nago inside the doctor's room, and unlocks the clear door that led behind the glass casing.*

- Poking a snout right above her shoulder to peer inside her purse, the unmistakable scent of rum draws him closer to gaze longingly at the vials lying at the bottom of her bag. He does not have long to stare before the door opens and Nagogo noses his way in to slink inside, but as the setup of the room becomes clear, the toothy grin on his face disappears to be replaced with a small unsatisfied frown.
For one, this place lacks a bed. A fancy bed, like the one in the room he had passed in the hallway earlier.
Plus, the very contents of the room remind Nagogo of quite unpleasant times back at Tasulasa orphanage, but in his foggy mindset he can’t recall just what was so terrifying about it. Now he knows that Rukaka had been referring to a doctor’s office, and he can’t help but associate the very word with aggravation. Lucky for the nurse, he’ll be a tad more cooperative being intoxicated.-
…this ain’t no bedroom…
-Appearing more like a lost lamb in the wake of his discovery, he tags along behind Rukaka and steps into the doctor’s room, admiring all of the technologically superior medical instruments lining the walls and counters.-
Woah. Not even Kanini has haff’a this stuff!
-Drawn to the examiner’s table, he lumbers over toward the leather seating and, after a few failed attempts, finally manages to climb up onto it without falling off. The paper underneath is kinda uncomfortable, but he ruffles it up enough to push it slightly out of the way and leans back in a relaxed pose as if he were getting ready to doze off. Hey, it might not be a bed, but if it’ll make the tiredness bogging down his mind go away, then it’ll do for a quick nap. However, his cough believes sleep is not in the agenda today and the moment he finally settles onto the table, a violent round of wheezes rouses him to a seated position and there he stays perched.-

*Rukaka begins to wash her hands in the sink, and snaps on the standard medical gloves. Out of playfulness she begins to snap it a bit more, but ceases it. She grabs the stethoscope from her hook and puts it on her head where her ears probably would be.*
Don't worry, I'll make this quick~ Now, this might tickle~
*She puts the metal part of the stethoscope on his chest and begins to examine his heartbeat. She moves it around a little, basically moving across his whole chest, holding it for a few. She takes the metal part away for just a moment to take some notes, specifically of his breathing pattern, heart rate, and some other fancy medical stuff no one would know a lot about.*
Hmm~ *she looks at a doctor's notebook and begins to dig inside, mostly at the "W" section and then the "C" section for reference. She begins to compare her notes side to side with the notebook, constantly flipping back and forth between the two. She then closes it, and faces him.* Alright, I think I know how to get rid of that cough of yours~
You have from what I could understand a whooping cough~ It's kind of like the cold, but mostly it's from a bacteria infection~ *giggle* Perhaps a dirty glass could do that~? But luckily, this is easy to solve~ *she begins to dig into the cabinets, looking around particularly for a bottle of Tylenol. A bad move on the doctor's side, but hey, I guess the doctor knows best...Okay, maybe not. Maybe she should just go for the shot...*

-The taunting snaps of Rukaka’s gloves were all too familiar to the deckhand, albeit in several different contexts, none of which were medical in nature, but they still caused him to crack a grin as he reminisced. Said grin bent into a cringe as the icy metal of the stethoscope brushed against his skin and he gave an audible gasp in reaction, which erupted into a dying wheeze. He had half a mind to swat her hand away, but he wasn’t too sure about what was going on and simply stayed put.
As powerful as his heart sounded, one could argue it was nearly as drunk as he was from the soporific effects of the rum, sluggish and terribly irregular in rhythm. However, perhaps that was to be expected given his current state. It was his lungs that were much more concerning as every time he exhaled they moaned almost like the whining of some animal as he strained to breathe without coughing too much.
Gods, if he hadn’t felt the full extent of his ill health before then boy did he feel awful now.
He watched intently as Rukaka fished through her notes and raised a non-existent brow in response to the herring’s diagnosis. “Whooping cough”? The hell kind of a name was that? It sounded more like the given name of some noxious bottle of rum at the bar, the kind only the best pirates were capable of drinking without choking on its vile flavor.
Before he knew it, the nurse had strolled over to the cabinet searching for some sort of specific remedy. Did this mean she really DID have such a bottle in her stores? He was always up to the task, no matter how sick he really was, of showing a lass how to chug properly.
Now, had Kanini been present, she would have scolded her fellow nurse’s accidental malpractice for looking to provide medication while he was still under the influence of alcohol, but Nagogo sure didn’t know any such information even when sober to correct her. He only remains hunched over in his place on the table, squinting in an attempt to make out the contents of the cabinet from afar. Maybe now is the time to ask about the true extent of his condition; after all, if he was sicker than he thought, then that meant Kanini was going to confine him to his hammock and say “no” to adventures with litl lad, trips to the bar, dips in the ocean, and romping with women the instant he returned home. Basically, everything he considered enjoyable would be off-limits...Kanini could be such a fun-sucker that way.-

-The eel wanders inside the refrigerated room, hugging himself as tightly as he could to keep warm. Such a cold place probably isn't so good for him and his cough, but he's determined to have his fill of fish, especially since it was offered free of all things.
He looks around momentarily, noticing the giant slabs of beef hanging from the ceiling along with chickens and cuts of pork, but it’s not until he catches a glimpse of shiny golden scales that he begins to drool.
There, staring into his bloodred eyes, was an entire bucket of Tupi fish.
He ambles over to the pile and grabs one off the top, stuffing his face with the fish without a second thought. Like he cared if it was cold or not! Tupi fish was Tupi fish and it had become exceedingly rarer these days, so he had to enjoy his favorite dish while it still existed. Once finished with this first snack, he moves onto another after a brief cough and it is literally almost no time at all before that one disappears too.
Right before his first bite into the third fish, he stops suddenly. The entire room, including himself, seems to have come to a standstill and then blurs, the scenery tilting dangerous angles to the left and right to give Nagogo the feeling he was in not a food pantry, but a funhouse. His grip on the fish loosens and drops to the icy ground below and he brings a hand to his head, attempting (and failing) to make the room halt its motions.
Yes, this is why mixing medication with alcohol is a bad idea. The pills were in the process of getting rid of his cough, but the flipside of the coin was an extreme bout of dizziness. As best he can manage, Nagogo calls out to Rukaka and tries not to topple over onto his back in the meantime.-
L-lass…? The room’s spinnin’…is it sp’oesta do that?

Hmm~? The room isn't spinning at all~
*She thinks for a bit.*
Ah, it must be the medicine~ I suppose all you need is rest now~! Do you want me to prepare a bed, or would want me to take you back home~?

-Nagogo wasn't too sure he'd be able to walk all the way back to his ship without passing out, even WITH Rukaka's assistance, so he opted to accept the nurse's offer to stay on board the ship for a little bit.-
Shur, I'll crash here if ya don't mind. I could even sleep in here if ya got me a blanket a really big blanket...
-Obviously, nobody is going to want him to stay in the freezer room, especially if he was sick, but if it cuts out the work for her then hey, he'd sleep here. Really, the hospitality of this herring is something to be grateful for and despite his less than desirable personality, Nagogo genuinely is thankful for her help.-

((This comment virginity has lasted too long)) *Madidi was walking along the docks paying her visit to the Devil's Wrath as usual. although she never went abroad due to Venini, Raiyoyo and Rokuku, she would call out for her friends and they'd hang out. today however made her disappointed. the Devil's Wrath was gone, probally out sailing. in it's place was a different ship Madidi hadn't seen before. very carefully, she tip toed onto the main deck* Um...sorry for intruding!...if there's anyone here...

(( I WAS A PURE AND INNOCENT GIRL NOW I AM RUINED FOR MARRIAGE ))
*In the main deck there was nothing really there, but what Madidi stumbled upon was a steam ship, a ship vastly different in size and width than the DFT ship. In the large, steel deck of the ship was really nothing but a glass compartment that led to a small pool, and many other mechanisms that would control the sails of the ship, and some ladders to go to the top of the poles to see the vast world around the ship. At the walls of the ship was a door that opens from a lock rather than a knob or a push. This ship seemed very sophisticated nonetheless, as near this door was stairs leading to another floor to the ship, which there was another pole to sightsee and a door to lead to the mechanisms to driving the ship. No one appears to be there anyway, so it probably isn't a huge deal. Either way, this place is a maze and finding Rukaka wouldn't be so easy for a newcomer, and especially intruders.
Rukaka herself is in the lower portions of the ship in her office, watching her latest doctor dramas and drawing anatomical parts to her leisure. Near her desk was a service elevator to travel to the floors for fast travel. After all, she is a doctor, and she needs to travel quickly to get to people. On her desk was a radio that would turn on if anyone was to touch the button outside of her door would emit the voice. But anyway, back to Rukaka. She is enjoying the latest episode of The Surgery Tales, a program she has set her eyes on for a very long time and on her lap was a notepad, some with highly detailed notes, and the rest with small doodles of her fellow herrings, and some anatomical parts.*

((*SWIMS IN ALL OF THE GLOURIOUS TEXT*))
*She wandered around in the steam boat, completely lost and couldn't remember her way back out. Eventually she ended up in the kitchen, and looked around for Raiyoyo before entering. Madidi had been unceremoniously drop kicked out of the kitchen and out of the Devil's Wrath when she first met him, and she didn't want to run into him again. But maybe it was a best idea if she stayed out if kitchens entirely, because after lightly touching an overhanging pot the whole rack came crashing down onto her. Madidi helped and dove out of the way, but the pots were slightly faster, landing with one big crash ontop of her. Not only was she trapped, it hurt...a lot*

*The sound of pots and pans echoed across the ship, and with the television in Rukaka's room weak in reception, it turns off. However, the sounds come through her service elevator.* Oh, looks like Hookiki decided to cook again~ Well, might as well see if she's alright~ *she gets up and opens a secret pit on her floor. She puts the television inside here and closes it, and begins to go to the service elevator. She opens in, and begins to surface herself to the kitchen floor.*

*she struggled underneath the weight of the pans but she only made the situation worse for her, the weight only increasing. one of the pans landed on her tail and she yelped out in pain. not the greatest feeling she wanted to feel. at least she could see the world outside around her, and she heard the elevator in front of her whirring* Sh-Shit...

*Upon reaching the kitchen floor, she looks around to see a pile of pans on top of the cat.* Oh~ It seems you've stumbled onto the ship. Hmm...I can't say you sound a bit too familiar, as our neighbors usually complain about intruders coming onto our ship... *she giggles.* Now, may I ask who you are?

Ah, I'm very sorry! I did apologize for intruding when I came onboard... *she lays her ears down in pain and humiliation. Madidi could only guess that Venini had told her about what had Madidi had done and some other things that probaly weren't true* By neighbors, do you mean the Devil's Wrath? *she nods at her* And my name is Madidi.

Oh, whatever could that be~? *It was a blatant fib, but she still wasn't going to tell. It's a secret after all~* And a pleasure to meet you, black-cat san~ *and it seems she doesn't take to memorizing names lightly as much as she should be.* Now, why are you on the ship and why are all of my pots and pans on you~?

*she struggles a bit, causing some of the pans to loudly hit the floor* Ow....Well, some of my best friends live on the Devil's Wrath and I thought we could hang out today but they're not here right now...But then I saw your ship and....I guess you could say my curiosity got the better of me...I just tapped one of them and it was like a domino effect, everything happened so fast...

Ah~ Morbid curiosity always does get the best of us, though I suppose a cat is like that as well~ *she smiles brightly.* Well then, I guess I can patch you up so you can be on your way~ *she begins to get the pots and pans and stack them in a well organized fashion. However, she starts from the bottom so even more pots and pans would fall and crumble onto Madidi. She doesn't really seem to think that well.*

That'd be nice, thank you miss. *the second she removes a pan, one falls and hits her tail again making her yowl* Ouch....sorry about that, my tail is my source of balance, and if I lose it, I'd be all over the place...
