I didn't know either until I saw another plush doll from another plush-maker and she said she used brushed yarn for her amigurumi dolls. Pretty cool, eh? Β I think using yarn is a great option since finding fur that is long enough to use as hair is not easy to find; well, I mean close to my home.Β

In my hometown is difficult to find even average fur, so, yeah, I know what you meanΒ Β .
I'm still working with the doll's base, as I want it to have a nose and I'm not convinced by my results so far. But, hey, I'll keep trying.

I don't want to steal your ideas but I always wanted to make a doll that has a nose but I haven't find a technique that convince me to use, well, especially for anime characters. Β

And, yeah, it's difficult to find tutorials about anime rag dolls, so you have to try really hard to figure it out without any help.
