There are so many things to consider that I keep it limited to principles. But before one can USE principles, he has to fully explore the ten thousand things. I'm laboring through that transition, now. One thing I can say is that there is no clear distinction between panel comp and page layout. The two are interdependent, so one has to advance in both, equally - turning attention back and forth, using one to condition the other. My advice would be master the panel to master the page, but - well - you see how long that's taking me. Just understand that when the crits come, they aim at what you're not good at, not focused on, not interested in. So, get in the habit of circulating through the skills, measuring one against another and not letting strengths get too far ahead of weakness. Turn weakness into strength. Looking at your progress, I'd say you're on the right track.

thanks. And, yes, absolutely! If you think it's something that could benefit others, just use the comments (ie. on the profile page or a deviation page). If it is of a personal nature use private notes. That's up to you. Either way is fine with me.

Can I throw you a challenge? I don't know if you share my ... interest in kink. But beauty transcends, right? So ...
Depict the emotion of "submission" in a female figure using only body language and pose.
I eagerly await any results!

Beauty absolutely transcends, and in transcending transforms . . .
As far as the challenge, I'll keep it in mind. But you know 'the spirit bloweth where it listeth.' I have no idea what moves me and why. I tend to mosey along doing my thing, until something crosses my path and redirects me. I think that's part of being an artist or writer, being receptive to these "ideas" that seem to come from nowhere, and responding to them - dialoguing with them.
Here is something I did that runs along the line of your challenge, but it was written as fiction. It's a character study of a woman submitting to sado/masochistic urges she does not comprehend - yet she follows the path of self-revelation as it unfolds (see below).
White of the Die: The End of Time"I looked upon your face; it is my face."
"That frozen rage is what I must explore."
"O, secret, self-enclosed and silent place!"
"That is the gift I thank Medusa for."
(Gift of the Medusa--May Sarton)
Michael Carver's Norwegian fisherman's sweater made an effective bulwark against the cold damp mists of the Washington seacoast. It belonged to Phyllida Grant when she visited. The twenty-nine-year-old magazine editor would pull it on and stretch it over her knees when the three curled up in front of the fireplace to sip herbal tea and munch wheat-thins. Invariably, on those occasions, Michael would rebuke her for deforming his sweater. Wendy would join Michael against Phee, mock-serious. Then she and Phee would giggle and laugh unti
White of the Die: White Girl (Denouement) Reggie Rey reached across Phillipa Grant's king-size bed to take hold of the terry-cloth belt that lay tangled with Phee's crumpled robe at the edge. "Turn on your stomach," he said curtly.
"Pardon?" She replied.
"I said turn over. I want you to lay face down."
"Why! Reggie . . . What ever for? What are you going to do to me?" The beautiful woman asked suspiciously.
"I'm going to tie your hands behind your back. Any objections?"
Phee bit her lower lip and tried to suppress the unexpected wave of desire that was beginning to flood her body. Reggie was exciting her, but she needed time to consider the situation rationally. Didn't she have enough of it? Couldn't she be satisfied with tonight's romantic conquest without embellishing it w

So glad you did! I feel as if we all responded with the best of our human nature. The way everyone cooperated - no power struggles or leadership issues. It was like the egos disappeared and we melded into a functional unit with various individuals taking the lead at different times to help this fellow. It made me appreciate the social group and feel honored to participate in it, instead of being critical of it and seeking to avoid it. And while I don't understand why you thanked me - it makes me feel good, for which I'm grateful. In a way that's difficult to explain, you made my day. I'd like to stay in touch.
Two Ks in Okkita! I missed that, so couldn't find your profile page and gallery But I was finding it difficult and slow to process new information in the aftermath of what happened. Didn't pick up on things you told me until late at night and this morning.)
Got medical appointments following up on a recent injury, so I'm jetting from one to another. Looking forward to getting them out of the way so I can take time to review your gallery.
