I know rite? XD I'm still planning to have the new version be able to set his hair alight, instead of it being like that all the time. But it's kinda hard to make it look so good on the new design

I think that you should keep it very large. Just my personal opinion. Have a character with hair as large as his personality!

Well, the new hair is equally as large, just a lot of it is held back in a ponytail so it doesn't really look bombastic anymore. Hmm... maybe I could make the ponytail be made of fire? best of both worlds!

Best of both worlds indeed! I think you should just do a piece with that style, and gauge the reaction of others. I am certainly not the most qualified judge! I think your idea would look awesome though, and function like you wanted, a bit less in the way.
