Hello, I'm sorry for not getting back to you promptly. I don't use DeviantArt very extensively anymore except for lurking and following artists I know, so finding an actual comment notification was a bit of a surprise that I hadn't considered until now. It has been quite a long time. I'm doing passably. What of you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Neiot In reply to StephenFauster [2017-02-11 07:48:06 +0000 UTC]

Ja, I understand entirely. It's alright, I am rarely online as much. Life does that to ya, it's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm glad you replied at all.

Me, I'm not too bad. I have been accomplishing a lot. Earning some necessary cash here and there, migrating Kelacao over to Discord, getting my ears blown out by T-34s, all that good stuff.

StephenFauster In reply to Neiot [2017-02-11 08:01:08 +0000 UTC]

Good to hear you're doing well. I can't say that as much has been accomplished on my end, but the future is looking up. Hoping that a culinary program at a local college might be in my near future, in addition to driving, and I've already got a friend offering me a potential job position come Summer when my survivor's benefits give out. There's been a lot that's happened. Some good, some bad, mostly interesting.

How is the server doing, anyways? I think I took a look at the group page about 2 years ago, but didn't stick around long.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Neiot In reply to StephenFauster [2017-02-11 08:22:09 +0000 UTC]

A culinary program? Ahh! That is wonderful. What kind of culinary program? Are you planning on being a chef? Meat, fish, vegetable? I'm curious.

Survivor's benefits? What happened exactly?

Kelacao, as a whole, has changed quite a lot since the last time you've been there. We've expanded on some things, while others, we completely eradicated. We're no longer using Oacalek as we used to, and we've moved everything to Google Docs. Still have some kinks I need to punch out. Aside from that, I even created a ".com" for Kelacao, but it's a work-in-progress.

Just a general chef's trade course, 2 years of college classes that progressively give me more and more certification to work in the food service industry on the side, getting into more and more advanced content as time progresses. One of the optional classes in the final batch is even Ice Sculpting, of all things, but at the start I'm going to be mostly going over the basics like baking, preparing meats, menu composition, learning my way around an industrial or commercial kitchen, et-cetera. That isn't to say that I've been biding my time until the classes begin. I've been learning as much as I can about cooking for myself and for others, and host dinners for friends from time to time for friends in order to stretch my legs, proverbially speaking. Having guests also provides sufficient incentive to get the house cleaned more often and more thoroughly.

Oh, my father died of liver cancer, shortly after we parted ways. His insurance plan and trust fund were then set up in such a way that I was to receive a parcel out of the accrued returns monthly as a "Survivor's Benefits" cheque. I'm not entirely sure why they call it Survivor's Benefits since he certainly didn't survive.

That certainly seems like a great deal of time well spent, to me. It's good to hear that the group has persisted and flourished in the interval. You've put a lot of love into it, and it shows.

I can't really say as much for most of my projects. I started getting into Tabletop Roleplaying Games in a much bigger way than I once had, and there have been an interesting smattering of little projects that have turned out for better and for worse at different intervals, and it's left me with an amusing little pile of fractured world building notes that haven't gone anywhere at anything approaching a reasonable pace, but I'm getting more actively involved with my local community than I had been, and I'm nominally on the gaming staff of several of the local conventions. Online I've accrued an interesting amalgamation of people I like to think could consider me a friend who seem to tolerate my misbegotten and prolix ramblings. Case in point, sorry for the unnecessarily protracted elucidation.

Neiot In reply to StephenFauster [2017-02-11 09:28:25 +0000 UTC]

Alles klar, meine Freunde. Your "protracted elucidation" is welcomed, because I know you well enough to expect such a colourful vocabulary. I find it refreshing, since I, myself, have lost the will to reciprocate.

That sucks, though, about your father. I'd ask how your family coped with his death, but I assume that is a subject best left untouched. Can't say the same, since no family members I've ever known personally have died. Give it a few years, I suppose, they will drop like flies, and it will be a sad, sad time. All I can hope for is that I make them all proud before they pass. I would hate for them not to witness me climb into the cockpit of a P-51 for the first time, to fly it as its pilot, as my grandfather did years and years ago.

StephenFauster In reply to Neiot [2017-02-11 09:56:46 +0000 UTC]

At least you have a goal in mind beyond simply truculent and spiteful existence, and an admirable one at that.

There is a particular line of inquiry that I find my attention diverting towards with decent regularity, and in the name of slaking my curiosity, I'll be frank: Why did you contact me, precisely? This isn't meant with any sort of enmity or rancor, but my notice certainly is piqued. This conversation serves as a fairly prominent salient after such an expansive stretch of mutual dissociation. How long has it been, anyways? Four years?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Neiot In reply to StephenFauster [2017-02-11 11:04:37 +0000 UTC]

Ja. One of my many goals is to fly at least three of the planes at the museum I work for. The Flying Heritage Collection. Owned by Paul G. Allen, of all people!

Hahaha, I understand your curiosity. I doubt it has been that long, but it's certainly been a while. Well, I thought I'd check up. See how you are. Since I've been doing extensive work on Kelacao, I began to reminisce about the old times.

One would hope that people who worship the Goddess of Selfishness would has a touch more respect for girls. .___.
