Be one day in Holland, and you're sure you want to go back to australia. It's cold, busy, dirty and you have to learn english, spanish, german, greek, latin AND french at school!

we have the best basis of government, true, but you dont really seem to understand that our government has realised that the public vote only goes as far as who goes into power. and not as to what they DO with that power.

no i definalitly agree that if what u said was correct about 73% slower interent it is the last thing we need, and i wud probs die trying to use it
and u are right that most politicians vote on legisilation based on party lines rather than strictly the ideas of the voters that put them there.but at least we hav a say in who is there in the first place, and we do have ways of making sure the gov are accountable.

well, we really had no choice with our last election.... it was either rudd, or half John Howard and the other half some random guy. and i think the reason why our current government sucks so much right now is because they know that the only reason why they got elected was because of that, so they wanna pass as much shit through before they get tossed out... *sigh* politics... yes but in aus we are voting for each MP in our electorate, we do not get a direct say in who the prime minister is, and it doesnt matter all that much the PM is a leader/spokesperson he does not really have much more power than the other MP's
