Yeah, even though in the movie they never showed there love, you can just feel it, it there, he's just been hiding it in for so long.

Indeed. And if anyone who watched the movie could see that the only reason he is acting this way toward her is because he wants to protect her and doesn't want to get her involved in something that could end up hurting her.
