Hey, thanks for all the comments! It's a nice change from the usual +fav bombing and such, awesome that people still take the time to actually think about what they look at and take the time to appreciate it

Hi, I've read through some of your writing and I quite like it, reminds me sometimes of my own. I say keep it up, looking forward to more.

Hey -- You're new today, right! Welcome, my fellow United Kingdomian, to Dante's Seventh Circle of Hell [or, as we like to call it, "deviantART]. I'm quite new myself -- I "was sent" here three days ago
My name is Jamie.

I'm not that new, joined early this year, but on another account, TommyGunC
The name annoyed me, it seemed ridiculously immature, and I felt that portrayed me... I am immature, but that just seemed so ah... scene.

I left my old persona -- mystical-machine-gun -- to set up a new one. Hey, isn't it odd how we sort of named ourselves after machines --? I named myself after this [link] -- ich LOVE this band! There is a Norwegian guy on here [I think he is Norwegian, at least] who is called mysticalmachinegun with no hyphens. I didn't even know until yesterday!
"The name annoyed me, it seemed ridiculously immature, and I felt that portrayed me... I am immature, but that just seemed so ah... scene." -- Me, too, really. I like the band Kula Shaker, and I love the song "Mystical Machine Gun" -- don't get me wrong; listen to it, you'll love it, too -- but eventually I decided it was enough for me. So now I am "Morologus-Es" -- from Latin, "Morologus es", meaning "You're talking like a moron". I don't think I'll ever get bored of people commenting on me, and not having any idea what my name means

XD I was refraining from asking what it meant. That band are pretty good. British, I hope?
I wonder how many people get offended when they ask: "What does your name mean?" and get an answer such as, "You're talking like a moron,"

Yes, Kula Shaker are a British band. Why did you hope that they were British? -- Is it because Brits produce such shit music compared to, say, the United Snakes of America?
"I wonder how many people get offended when they ask: "What does your name mean?" and get an answer such as, "You're talking like a moron."" -- Did YOU get offended?

ToothlessGear In reply to Morologus-Es [2007-10-16 21:44:17 +0000 UTC]
Not really, because I didn't ask. ^_^
It's not that British music is shite, it's just that there's a lot more Americans that Brits, and you're more likely to get spotted/signed on the big-land. I quite like a lot of British musicians. Coldplay, Blur, Colin Hay... though technically he's Scottish-Australian, Jamie T... Not a fan of all this 'Arctic Monkeys' toss though... Might aswell listen to The Who. I don't like The Who.

Arctic Monkeys are not bad -- I have some of their songs on my iPod. The Who are legends. Blur and Coldplay make me want to strangle Baby Jesus. [So it's better for most people if I don't listen to them.]

I think it would be better for most people if you listened to them.
Arctic Monkeys just get on my nerves. I'm a northerner and they annoy even me. It's like "Yes, we get it, your dads worked in the coal mines, you're related to Billy Elliot and you sing about getting birds on the dancefloor... Done yet?"
I listen to Blues-y stuff mostly. Blues, Jazz, Cajun-Indie-Folk (I like to call it Swamp Music)

Down here in dear old Norwich, we have the likes o'Kate Nash playing at my uni, that sort of thing. Not good stuff.
I listen to rock [Aerosmith, Prince] and electronica [Kula Shaker, Hot Chip], amongst other things. What films do you like? I like "Pulp Fiction", "Bad Education" [a Spanish-language film] and "Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer."

Quentin Tarantino is my hero.
'Nuff said.
I like a bit of Sin City. To tell you the truth, though, I don't watch all that many films. I hate slasher-films, y'know like Texas Chainsaw Massacre? They completely pervert the truth... They're pretty bell-end.

Morologus-Es In reply to ToothlessGear [2007-10-16 22:02:56 +0000 UTC]
But "Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer" is realistic. I've seen it. It's based on the relationship between Otis Toole and Henry Lee Lucas. Famous film-critic Roger Ebert said that it doesn't sugar-coat violence like -- like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre -- other films do.

Mostly I read philosophy. I want to buy "LEVIATHAN" by Thomas Hobbes. However, the philosophy books that I have:
"HISTORY OF WESTERN PHILOSOPHY" by [link]
"DIALOGUES CONCERNING NATURAL RELIGION" by [link]
"ON SUICIDE" by [link]
"ON THE SUFFERING IN THE WORLD" by [link]
"THE WORLD AS WILL AND IDEA" by [link]
"THE GAY SCIENCE" by [link]
"THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA" by [link]
"HUMAN, ALL TOO HUMAN" by [link]
I am a pessimist. My philosophy has been profoundly inspired by Hume and Schopenhauer. Schopenhauer was an avid scholar of Kant. I thereby am an adherent of Kant; though, if it were not so, I should have no knowledge of Kant at all, aside from what I have read of him in "HISTORY OF WESTERN PHILOSOPHY".
I also read horrors, too -- King, Poe. I have a book of poetry, 107 years old [the same amount of time that Nietzsche has been dead], by [link] .
Yourself?

Bastard! Did it again...
Well I'm not that deep, but I've actually got 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' by Poe here. Mostly I read sci-fi, 'cause I'm a nerd. I figured you were a pessimist. I'm the same, really, but not philosophically, I just know shit rolls downhill. I'm a fan of Clive Barker though.
ps, can I delete comments?

Whatever you do, don't read the philosophy of this guy [link] -- you'll have great difficulty in understanding it. Philosophers have said that his [Hegel's] philosophy is very difficult to penetrate. My icon, Schopenhauer, said that Hegel's philosophy was "vacuous . . . a mere expansion of the "ontological argument"". Hegel was a twat.
Sci-fi, eh? I don't read that much of it, to be honest. You're probably not a nerd -- I'M the nerd, I'm in the library right now, and I keep glancing at the cover of "THE WORLD AS WILL AND IDEA", at an image of the face of Schopenhauer.
"I'm the same, really, but not philosophically, I just know shit rolls downhill." --
Forgive me, but I don't know who Clive Barker is . . .

I'll hide them then. Clive Barker wrote Hellraiser and Candyman.
Yeah, you're the smart kind of nerd though I'm the nerd that obsesses over the fact that Star Wars episodes IV through VI are a perfect example of the Chaos Theory...
See if the gunner on the Imperial Starship had taken down the Rebel Starship C3PO and R2D2 wouldn't have escaped to deliver Princess Leia's message to Obi-Wan, and so the Emperor would have successfully taken over the universe...

"I'm the nerd that obsesses over the fact that Star Wars episodes IV through VI are a perfect example of the Chaos Theory..." -- and you're NOT the smart kind o'nerd --? I doubt it's not the case, somehow, mate . . .
"See if the gunner on the Imperial Starship had taken down the Rebel Starship C3PO and R2D2 wouldn't have escaped to deliver Princess Leia's message to Obi-Wan, and so the Emperor would have successfully taken over the universe..." -- The only thing I understood about that sentence is that the universe was somehow linked with it.

Alright, alright. Anyway, if, from what I understand, you're in a library, you must have broken in... No library is open at this time. O.o

"Anyway, if, from what I understand, you're in a library, you must have broken in... No library is open at this time. O.o" -- Heh. The uni library closes for an hour from 9.00 -- and apart from then, it is always open.
"Anywee, I'm off for sleep. Feel free to check out my new short story." -- I'll give it a read -- be it today, or tomorrow. [I might, too, go back to Halls and sleep ]
Goodnight, mate!
