Thank you so much for the kind words Believe me, I envy a lot of artists out there, but I use it as fuel to keep pushing myself further. My motto for the last year has been try, try again, and then try again. I really enjoy your self portraits and I'd really like to see more. I like the juxtaposition of song titles and your photos, it makes you reanalyze what you're presenting. Keep up the good work.

I wish I could get back into drawing and painting, however I've felt very discouraged for months.
Well, thank you! I appreciate that.. I've had friends speak negatively about the odd photo names. I don't want to put down names that make sense, just because they make sense. Not sure if that made a bunch of sense, but it looks like you understand it.

You as well, I really really really admire your work. You're definitely one of the best artists on DA that I know of.

Sorry for the delay in response, I unplugged during the holiday (plus a birthday) break. You'll get there, don't push yourself too hard and it'll start to happen naturally again. I find that when I'm really trying to make myself do something or to make something, I get discouraged and can't get a single idea to come out. But when I just go with the flow of things and let them unfold naturally, it starts to come together. Even if it's just making a mess on paper or canvas, at least I've done a little for the next time I step up. If that doesn't work, I try something out of my norm to see what that sparks. 

You're welcome Don't worry, they just don't get the concept and probably never will. That's too bad for them, as much as we'd like them to get a certain perspective, some people will only view the world in their own rigid POV, where everything has to make sense. Keep doing what you're doing and if you believe in it, then that's all that matters. We can't please everyone, so we better please ourselves with the work we do.

Yeah, that's good advice. I'm the same way. All my artwork has came from a random burst of creativity. Every time I've ever try to force myself I wouldn't like what I did, or wasn't able to complete anything at all.
Artwork that's  straight forward in every way possible aren't usually interesting. They don't make you think.

I agree. I like realism, but I try not to get too caught up in it. The hyper realistic sect of painters are doing amazing things, but in my head I can't justify spending 200+ hours painting something so real, when I can take a snap with a cam and be done in 2 seconds haha. I feel like when you layer too much, it takes the life away from what went into the work. You're welcome, keep it coming

I find that when I try to do realism I stress myself out way too much. I'm an inpatient artist, I like my works to be done within 10 hours. I won't stop until I'm done.
I just don't have the heart for it. However, there of course, are wonderful pieces from people who do have the art for it.

I agree about the impatience of things. While I can be very patient if need be, but with painting, I feel an urgency that has to be answered. Slinging paint and letting what happens happen, then stepping back to see what I've done haha. My latest piece that I just posted, is a mix of charcoal and acrylic, by adding the charcoal element, it makes me want to work even faster. I worked on that piece in 3-4 sessions and during the last session, I realized I need to finish these large scale expressionistic pieces quickly. Letting the emotion of the time come through, rather than trying to conjure up the original feeling. Delay doesn't work for harnessing emotion. Woohoo, can't wait to see what you're working on
