Hi there. :3

So I see that you translate Mauroz's comics. (Awesome job, by the way) His work is very amazing and with you helping him translating it to english makes it better for him when it comes to english readers. What I've also noticed is that you're not a spanish speaker.

So what I'm going to tell you, is that I'd like to help. Mainly, because I speak both english and spanish in a well level. I was born and raised in the U.S and I'm currently studying in Ecuador, which is a South American country and I've already been here since I was 10. So with experience, I'd like to offer my help with the translation of Mauroz's masterpiece.

Greetings,

I see...well, I do Mauroz's comic out of gratitude for his contribution to the fandom and to make it my small contribution to the fandom.

I also need the comic's pictures to understand the text, since I'm no Spanish speaker myself.

So for a novel I believe my knowledge is way too limited. Google Translate isn't good, but I use it as one of three programs to translate Mauroz's comics. I also use freetranslation and then use my editing skills to match the translation with actual english.

Since I don't speak Spanish, I believe your novel would lose a lot of its touch if I translated it. Anything in comic style we could talk about. But I'm afraid I'd harm the value of your novel if I'd translate it with my programs.

Also I'm afraid you'll hardly find somebody translating hundreds of pages free of charge. Knowing two languages isn't easy, knowing them good enough to be able to write novels in both is really hard. I myself struggle with writing novels in English - my mother tongue is German, although I grew up bilingual my knowledge of German still way surpasses that of English. Most people would like to get paid for such kind of work.

I see you translated for Mauroz. Thanks for that.

Do you think he should add the dazzlings to the comic? Β (he said he might if enough people demanded it, so I'm trying to get a ball rolling.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TrueMadayar In reply to Agent49100 [2014-12-13 21:42:30 +0000 UTC]

Maybe, but I believe he has a story arc going and I would wish for him to finish the "first book" and then go into the second with new minions and new dangers!

Oh, and you're welcome, it's fun to do it. ^_^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Agent49100 In reply to TrueMadayar [2014-12-13 22:01:33 +0000 UTC]

True, DBZ focused on it's story arcs first, that's why they had so many fillers. Β

(honestly though, after he adds Sunset he should add the dazzlings, they were a major part of Sunset's redemption, just like how Haze and the Shadowbolts play an important role as the arc villains for the bearers arc (that's what I'm calling the first part, the second arc will be probably the Nightmare Arc.)

We'll see. It's so much work for him and he's still in school. We'll have to see - if he could officially license and sell it, I believe we have a bright Magical Girl Manga future ahead of him.

Agent49100 In reply to TrueMadayar [2014-12-13 23:03:21 +0000 UTC]

Me, I'm impatient. Β I just hope that if he ever gets to that arc, he ends up turning Octavia and Vinyl into magical girls who use the power of music. Β (Also reform Sonata, she deserves it the most.)

A little backstory I had for the gems was this: Β Long ago, a berserker dragon clan lived out in the oceans of Equestria. Β These dragons had the ability to use their voices as weapons. Β However, their queen wanted more power, so she created 3 gems to use so she could conquer Equestria, however, she was defeated and sealed away, and the gems were lost. Β If anyone were to touch the gems, they would gain their power and would be granted the ability of the dragons. Β The three who defeated her, the muses, swore that should she ever return, they would return to find her and stop her. Β The muses passed on, but they were reincarnated into ponies. Β They are easy to tell apart thanks to their cutie marks which resemble notes and the aura they give off. Β

The three will be Octavia, Vinyl, and Sonata. Β What do you think?

What made you come up with the design for your OC??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TrueMadayar In reply to AltoBurn [2014-12-05 09:45:58 +0000 UTC]

The mane and tail were an idea of a brony friend, one of the two that introduced me to the new fandom before I stumbled upon it myself.

The legs - norse mythology.

TrueMadayar In reply to AltoBurn [2014-12-08 08:53:47 +0000 UTC]

Nah, that was his Halloween costume. ^_^

The basis was Norse Mythology, actually. I saw Sleipnir ponified already and thought there could be an entire pony species like that - since firebreathing hoarder dragons are also in MLP-FIM, which originate from Norse Myths, as well. Most MLP-FIM mythologic points are from Greece, though.

So in an earlier conversation on Think Pinks page you told me that I have 6 legs due to my wings.. From what i got from that was unicorns have five legs due to their horn & alicorns have 7 due to their wings & horn.. Am i right

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TrueMadayar In reply to AltoBurn [2014-12-08 15:22:19 +0000 UTC]

Actually horns have different origins. Wings developed from extremities, like with birds and bats, and we should consider such mammals or birds to reference for pegasi - they don't really fit the insect category like changelings. Both Birds and Bats sacrificed their upper extremities for wings, specializing on flight only. Since Pegasi have both wings AND four legs, we have to assume that they either were artificially created (in the Enchanted Cauldron Of Lethally Cute Ideas owned by Lauren Faust) or started out with six legs.

Horns are normally developing from bone matter (Bovines and Rhinoceros), fixated to the skull, does not grow back and is based on ceratine. Some (Cervides) have bone matter (antlers) that first is grown, then dies off, is stripped off, and then grown again. Nevertheless it's hard bone matter, not hollow bones and joints like wings, nor did they ever serve any means of transportation.

Then there's the Narwhal, a toothed whale who has a single horn, often (also historically) considered a unicorn, which actually is a canine tooth (in fact the scepter of the House Habsburg, now displayed with the rest of the former crown jewels in the Hofburg in Vienna, was claimed to be of the horn of a unicorn but is actually a narwhal tooth). Since there seems to be no connection of a unicorn mouth with its horn, I believe this not to be the case here.

So I actually suspect Unicorns to be bovines, like cows, but with a single horn. Whilst evolutionary two horns or antlers have succeeded on our planet due to its nearly 360 degree level of defense, or single or double heavy horns (variants of rhinoceros) for ramming, it's not completely out there that some species would sport a single thin horn.
