I haven't heard of Koine, at least, not that I know of. But Phil Keagey? Keith Green? Ragamuffin Band?

Yes, yes and no.
Koine' is a Christian praise band that took old traditional hymns and put them to new, upbeat arrangements. Very cool. Take a listen on iTunes if you get a chance. I'm currently in a project of putting their scores into GarageBand to use a the accompaniment for my church's hymns during our services.
