Thanks for the fave on my Sonic theory piece! Do you have any ideas I could add to the theory? I wrote the theory down to learn other people's opinions of it, especially from fans who know a lot more than me, so I'd be interested to hear anything you have to say about it

Your theory is a really interesting one and one that would make Sonic X a lot cooler of a show, so I am glad to have seen it. Unfortunately the whole relation to Gerald argument is to counterproductive to the theory so at the very least the Chris we see and the Eggman we see can't be literally the same person. However, I do think you have some interesting ideas about Mobius, like how it is Earth but in a different time. With that in mind perhaps Chris constantly time travels to the same point in time which is why he stays the same age. Even cooler is Mobius's connection with infinity. Perhaps Mobius is stuck in a single point in time, which corresponds to the beginning on Sonic X. Maybe Eggman used to age but at some point he arrived on Mobius and stopped aging physically while he would continue to grow mentally which would parallel Chris. Eventually he would discover Chaos Control and use it to fix his own aging. Then he would attempt to use Chaos Control on a larger scale to fix the time flow on Mobius. This was his goal in the 1st episode of Sonic X, and the result was he accidentally created a parallel world modeled after what Mobius used to be, but with differences such as his family. This world would be the Earth we see in Sonic X and the replacement Eggman would be Chris. Another idea I have is about Eggman's motivations. Although I don't really like this idea to much because Eggman seems to legitimately enjoy evil too much, maybe the reason Chris as Eggman pulled off the same schemes his enemy did as a kid is because he knows they are necessary to set Sonic, Chris, and their friends on the path they need to be to become heroes and stop the world from other threats such as the Metarex. I hope this gave you some new ideas to think about, and sorry if these theories aren't any good. Although I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about the game canon I am not to knowledgeable about the rest of the series canon.

Game canon or series canon, it's all the same to me: I don't know much about it. So thanks for your input! You're right, everyone I've talked to has convinced me to give up the idea that they could be the same person via weird time loops. I really like your theory about a parallel world where Eggman's childhood was better. It would be ironic that his most bitter foe is the instrument of his alternate self having a happier childhood, and would explain the series finale where he almost seems grateful to Sonic. And because he did seem grateful, I'd even like to think Eggman wanted to go to Earth and meet his alternate self, that everything wasn't an accident. Though I'm not sure about Eggman using Chaos Control to fix his aging and the flow of time, I thought Chaos Control was supposed to be strictly a teleportation-type power. I now mostly think Chaos Control brought them to Chris's Earth, and Chris would have become his reality's Eggman, not the same person or related but more like an “Evil Dimensional Twin” type character; Chris is the good one but with many of the same personality traits. I also think Eggman, being a genius, realized who Chris was. That's why he's grateful to Sonic, though he still wants to do evil and fight Sonic.
