Hello!
I just wanted to say thank you for the watch, and for all your advice! It really has been useful, and given me plenty to think about
Just hoping the weather gets nicer again so I can try and put it into practice!

Very welcome indeed.
Yeh the weather really does need to improve a bit. Even just so we can have some kind of summer, it's halfway through June and I am still wrapping up in my winter coat, just plain silliness

Great photos! Do you shoot them all reverse-lens?

Mhmm, I experimented with reversing both my 50mm and the 18-55 but found that the 18-55 gives me much or versatility with shooting. The magnification can be surprisingly good but will also pull out wide enough to take in larger bugs. It may be the kit lens but it gives a lot of options for a lot of photography without having to spend loads. It's ideal for learning what you like doing and what you are good at before working out where to put the extra funds. I'd love the Mpe-65 but at around a grand it just isn't an option for now and I love some of the stuff I get reversing the 18-55.

Ah, that's cool
I agree that zoom lenses do tend to give more flexibility in most cases!
May need to try it myself one day (I currently use a 50mm and extension lenses)

You can try it out by literally holding the lens on the wrong way round, just press it to the hole and take a look. Sometimes if I am out with the 50mm generally snapping away I'll take the odd shot like this.
If you want something a little more stable a reversing ring can be picked up seriously cheaply. Just be aware you will have to set the aperture manually, this will mean having it the right way round, setting the aperture (I advise somewhere around f11) then holding the DoF preview button, this sets the lens to that aperture (cameras show you the view with the aperture wide for light then set the aperture as you shoot), with the button still held remove the lens and reverse it.

Thanks for your nice comment on 'Giant Hornet.' They will protect their home, but otherwise avoid confrontation so they are not a serious threat.
