Oh, and as a note - a lot of art teachers are stupid and don't know what they're talking about.
That's why they are art teachers, not active artists.
[I had a few that would say that to people and it always annoyed me.]

Ha, that's good to hear from an actual artist! I also realized that most of my art teachers didn't actually TEACH us anything. They'd say, "draw a chair" but not provide any guidance on line work or shading. They could tell me why my art sucked but not provide guidance on how to improve.

Yep. And they tend to "teach" based on what they themselves like, and find appealing.

Not necessarily what is good, or what is interesting, different, unique. Never unique.

Most art teachers just go through the litany of art history looks and feels.

Here.. try to paint like these past artists. Blah blah.

Boring.

All of the kids that were in my art classes.. the ones the teacher liked most and thought had "talent"...

none of them are artists now. Nor after college. They went, I didn't. shrug.

Why pay a ton for more of the same sort of largely useless schooling in "art", mostly art history really. That was my view.

I don't know... maybe art classes are useful to some people. idk.

Oh don't worry about that, it took me years after watching others here to get mine too. Still haven't uploaded even 1/10 off all the maps, characters, uniforms and other stuff I have created for RPG's, fanfiction or other stories. ^^
