Thank you for the comment, and welcome to DA! Have yourself an introductory llama!

Thanks! Now, what do I do with the llama badge? I already got two and deleted the messages, and now I can't find the badges anywhere. Do I need to not delete the messages?

Nope, you keep the llamas even if you delete the message. Here's how to interact with them:
In your profile, on the top right corner (right below "Favorites"), you should see a tiny version of your llama badge. Go ahead and click it, and it will bring you to your Badge page. On the badge page, you can view all the badges you have collected. New ones are automatically displayed in your profile if you have a free badge slot. You can also view other deviant's badges by clicking in the same location in their profile. If you want to give someone else a llama badge, all you do is click the "Give" tab right below the badges, and select "Give Llama". Llamas are free to give to other deviants, but you can only ever give a single Llama to a anyone. There are other types of badges that can be given, but they cost Deviant Points to purchase (explained below).
You can only ever display one of a certain badge type at a time (such as llamas), however, after gathering multiples of certain badges, their appearance in your profile will change; the badge has essentially "leveled up". In the case of llamas, if you receive 10 of them, your ordinary llamas will automatically become Super Llamas, complete with a flowing cape!
Once your badge levels up, all new badges of that type you receive will automatically be converted to the upgraded badge (so, any new llamas you get will be called Super Llamas when you're notified). After gaining enough Super Llama badges, it will level up yet again. I haven't gotten past Super Llamas yet, so I'm not sure what order the levels are, but there's Albino Llamas, Golden Llamas, and Ninja Llamas out there, just to name a few.
Llamas are also special, because you can spend Deviant Points to buy accessories for them, which will alter their appearance regardless of your llama level (for example, my Super Llamas have bowties). Deviant Points are purchased with real money, or received from other Deviants as gifts, donations, or in exchange for commissions.
Generally speaking, giving someone a llama is simply a way to show your appreciation, be it for their work, a comment, or just for the heck of it. Many people also have a "llama for llama" policy, and will give you a llama in return if you give one to them (they usually make mention of this in their profile). If you get a llama from someone, it's considered good form to leave a short thank you in their profile comments, and if you're feeling generous, giving a llama back in return.
I hope this has been helpful, and not over complicated! If you ever have any questions, please feel free to ask at any time, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. I'm always happy to help out newcomers to the community!
