I haven't read the books yet, I usually asume they will be better than any adaption to other media. We'll see if I get a hold of any this September during the comic festival we have in western Norway, that's when I go all out on books, manga, stuff in their store/stands. I've gotten quite addicted to the Percy Jackson books, just bought all of them after reading the first book. I like to pretend the movie was never made. And gave Artemis Fowl a try, but reading it in Norwegian was too boring to continue further imo, I prefer reading books in English.

Woman...you'll love Eric all the more when you read the books. He's so much more funny and amazing as hell. And picturing Alexander as I read, it helps like only 123567890X. /cheesy xD
I won't ruin the differences, but in all honesty, you'll want to kill the writer. The only season they kept good to the book was season 1. After that, they went further and further from the real plot. Well, book 2 and season 2 was alright with the real plot, but season three butchered it. ;~; now season 4 is making me cry because it's not happening like it's supposed to. They literally mean it when they say "LOOSELY based on the book".
Maybe...it's best that you watch a season before reading the book that the season was based on. Book 4 was beautiful. I hope they kept that beauty in this season. :<

Figures that True Blood too would suffer this problem of not staying true to the original story. But I haven't seen anything derail quite as much as the Lightning Thief movie did. It was just painful to watch, even the plot was intirely different.
My sister watch the episodes online, so I don't know if I should wait for it to arrive in Norway ( we have a channel that's very early with HBO shows, by mere months ) or follow her example.

Well...it's best to buy the box set in paperback. I've 8 of the series (out of 12). But it's really best to read chronologically. It's better that way to understand the situations Sookie always finds herself in. Gosh I love the humor in the books. xD
I -KNOW- you'll love the orgy party scene in the second book. The dialogue between Sookie and Eric is amazing. XD I laughed so hard I snorted. The humor is way too good. I wish they covered this scene in the series. I won't say more since I don't want to spoil it.
The fourth season will be a pain for me to watch...but if they make the chemistry between Sook and Eric work like they did in the book, I'll be more than happy to watch. xD
Hmm...if you've not started on the 4th season just yet, then you may as well start online. Unless you like the thrill of the tv HBO experience. lol I don't have cable or HBO. I do mine online. hahaha
