Thank you for your feedback. How could I make that image HDR? I know that some programs exist but I am not quite sure which work nicely.

The best way to make a HDR Image is to put the camera on a tripod. Then you'd want to set the ISO as low as possible if you can with your camera. You might want to set the white balance manual as well if possible. Then you would take a series of shots while adjusting the EV-/+ so that you have one shot where your skin is perfectly exposed and a second shot that exposes the background perfectly.
It's like, if you wanted to take a picture out of a window from inside you either get a a well exposed room and bright white window or a dark room and a window you can see the sky and clouds out of. It's a matter of blending the 2 images together so you can see both. It's about creating something closer to what we actually see. It adds texture to shadows and highlights.
I use photoshop CS4 I also have a program called Luminance HDR which is free : ) It does an ok job not quite as good as CS4. A program called photomatrix is considered top of the line. It cost 99$.
My best advice is to watch a few tutorials on youtube. I even saw a video that showed a few other free programs that can do HDR. It's important that nothing moves, it's probably best if you had an assistant handle the camera so you can stay motionless. It's also helpful to use the timer function so that you minimize any camera shake. it should be too windy because it will cause ghosting in the trees.
I hope this helps, if you have any other questions just drop me a line : )
