thank youuuu T.T
and photos would be cool. sanding is easy to discount as a brainless and unimportant task, but in fact, it’s not always easy to do well (i will have to polish the outer surface of a hickory stave sometime soon – a task that is going to be much more tricky on the tighly bumpy surface of the hornbeam staves currently drying in the shop, for example), it’s the number one job to address the sense of touch, and feeling a nicely prepared surface is just beautiful in itself.

People overlook sanding? That's terrible, sanding basically sets everything up for later... Well aside from that I wish you luck in sanding your project~ IhatebumpssomuchΒ
I love having a perfectly sanded surface, it's so nice to just run your hand across it without it being torn up by splinter and chips.

well, sanding is often seen as just that thing you do in the end, lamely wiping with the old crumpled up bit of sandpaper. but it is not only important, it is also not always easy to do well. and sanding something down until you are using superfine steel wool is using a good bit of elbow grease, too. let’s rest assured among us sanding afficionados that i heard adam savage (of mythbusters fame) say that if he gets around to writing his big book of modelmaking techniques, there will be an entire chapter dedicated on sanding because it is often underestimated.

btw, there is one surface treatment on wood that i like better than something well sanded and that is a cleanly cut surface. Β unless you sand to beyond sandpaper grain, there is always a bit of a softness to a sanded surface, whereas a cut surface (from a finishing plane or a good cabinet scraper) leaves a super clean and hard-feeling surface.

Oh, wow, then people need to learn. And yeah, whenever I sand something I always re-sand it just to make sure it's perfect. And that is amazing, it really is something that is so helpful and beautiful and it has to be know! Go Adam Savage~ lol.
Yes, that's something I like too, hard surfaces like that are nice because it does feel as if there is always that bit of dust whenever you sand, now I don't go to far down the line of sand paper strength (I don't know what to refer to it as) so that might be the reason, but none the less it's still there.
