People a VERY long time ago the sky was a big dome with holes in where the water fell through [rain]. throws creationist theory out the window cause thats not true is it? welcome to DA btw :D (Big Grin) xxxxx

The word there is "firmament." I've read over 5 different English translations of the Bible and I've never ONCE seen it translated as "dome." What translations are you referencing? "Firmament" refers to the air between the surface of the earth and the water vapor in the clouds. Clouds = water vapor.

i wasn't talking about what the bible said. people a long time ago didnt know there was an atmoshere, and they thought the world was flat.
they also thought that there was a dome in the sky that had holes in where the rain leaked because they'd never been able to get up that high or understand the concept.

the bible was written in that era, so therefore they thought, at the time, that a god had placed the dome there to give a 'space between the waters'. the waters being the ocean waters and the supposed water above the dome, which sometimes leaked in.
