I found your blown glass (haha I don't know if that's the right technical term or not) very cute and fasinating. I've always wondered how your get the colour into the glass?

Very cool glass work. I didn't even realize there was a section on dA for it. Congrats on the DD.

I love your glass work! I'd love to know how you do that and if it's accessible to everyone (moneywise, I can't buy a glasswork studio!). Congrats and I hope to see more from you soon!

you have very beautiful glasswork its a shame you cant sell it on DA

ForgetfulRainn In reply to BlazeDrgn [2007-12-07 15:02:56 +0000 UTC]
Why can't she sell it on DA? Is there a rule against selling one's work here?

BlazeDrgn In reply to ForgetfulRainn [2007-12-08 07:01:45 +0000 UTC]
you can sell pic's here and stuff, but i believe its because its glass work. you cant really mass produce artwork like this, plus its DA that ships it out, and she'd have to ship her own stuff out. does that make sense?

ForgetfulRainn In reply to BlazeDrgn [2007-12-08 15:59:23 +0000 UTC]
I wrote a comment here, but it got erased... grrr...
So, in short, DA sells prints on behalf of the artists; you could sell prints of the photographs of the glasswork, no problem. Naturally, DA wouldn't sell the glasswork itself, just like it doesn't sell the paintings people sell. In that case, the painter ships out the painting himself or herself to the buyer, and that's that. But you can sell prints of the painting on DA.
She should consider producing glasswork art for sales; it would work! And naturally, the shipping cost is included in the price.
Thanks the comment!

hm true enough though i think with things like this people would probably preffer to have the object in their hands to hold you know? the other problem is that both parties would have to give the other their address and trust them with it. one for the artist to be paid and the other for the person paying to get their piece of artwork

ForgetfulRainn In reply to BlazeDrgn [2007-12-09 00:11:07 +0000 UTC]
Of course, but that's the same with anything online. And there are ways to avoid that, for instance, you can pay a part before the object is shipped, and the rest after it has arrived; that way, if the person is trying to steal your money, it'll only a short sum, and he will get a bad reputation, and you can even sue the person!
And yes, you got to give your own address and take the address of the other; that's another way to make sure the person won't trick you; if you send the money to this address, then the person can't give you a fake one, otherwise he'd never get the money, and if he does, then you can easily retrieve them in case of fraud.

well you can only sue the person if you can track them. also if they get your card information it can be worse for you. unless you do paypal though some people dont like it
what about a p.o box though, or a buisness. also you've got to trust that the person isnt nuts or trying to stalk you you know?

ForgetfulRainn In reply to BlazeDrgn [2007-12-13 14:43:15 +0000 UTC]
Well, sure. Thing is, if you can't track them, they can't receive whatever you sent either, so they would have nothing to gain from doing this, and would indeed have to be nuts. And yes, it's better to use paypal; it's not that hard to use: I managed to use it!

BlazeDrgn In reply to ForgetfulRainn [2007-12-16 08:01:46 +0000 UTC]
true, i use paypal too, but a lot of people are paranoid or stuck in their ways and just dont trust people. i can kinda understand that since the last thing you want is to be apart of identity theft. its just a hard thing to do really since trust has to come from both people which has to be followed through on. besides even if the person only gets half the money for charging people, if they keep changing their information and what not it wouldnt be too hard for them to rank in the money. it sounds silly and probably even stupid, but people manage to pull this off quite effectively despite setups in place to protect people. after all the suspicious aren't usually suspicious for no reason

ForgetfulRainn In reply to BlazeDrgn [2007-12-16 14:54:30 +0000 UTC]
If someone keeps half of the money, you just report them to dA, for instance, and you can still sue, even if you don't know who did it; you sue "X" as the judiciary system has it.
As to the last part, I think all the suspicious people are suspicious for reasons, yes, but not the ones they're afraid of. Most people aren't criminals and aren't out to get you. Liars expect others to lie too, thieves expect others to steal too, so those are the least likely to trust over the internet, and that's partly why people who are willing to get involved in a trust pact with you tend to be honest people. I've never met a dishonest client over my experience on the internet, whether I bought a book, sold a painting, bought a painting, or else.

you cant sue someone if you dont know who they are. its like trying to search missing persons for a jhon or jane doe. if you dont know who they are you cant look for them, you've got nothing to put in your files. also if you dont know who did it you'd have troubble proving who did do it, if that makes sense. sure you can report them to DA but what is DA going to do about it? they'd probably just have something that waves them from liability.
i guess it just depends. you're lucky and have had a good run of who you've bought and sold things from. not everyone is as lucky and some times its just a bad turn that a person ends up dealing with something like that. in addition though i think this kind of art would be better sold on ebay or something as opposed to just simply massed produced for commertialism. since each piece is individualised and unique she couldnt really sell more than one of them at a time or maybe she wouldnt even want to. perhaps she loves every piece for its individuality and doesnt want to mass make any of it.

Ashleyyyyyyy.
I was in Florida and on the way back we flew right over NYC and it was a cloudless day, so the city was visible from the air, and I thought, "Ashley lives, like, a few thousand feet below exactly where I am right now and I can't even visit her."
Miss youuuu.

ASHHHHH I could say the same for you, absolute talent!
I definitely miss you loads too. Things are not so much hectic here as just kinda ... y'know, where nothing happens, then everything happens all at once, and then nothing happens again. It's cool.
Hope you're doing well. <3 !
