no course i haven't. I just haven't been on the site for some weeks now. I am probably not going to come on here again - takes too much time! Thinking of leaving the site. Thanks for all your comments and stuff. Hope you are ok

Nooo! You can't bloody leave me! Cause I'm leaving you! Well, I was, but dunno now. Had a kind of job offer/greatest opportunity I could ever ask for. But it involves relocating. To Japan
Anyways, I hope you don't leave Karen, I'll miss you if I don't go, and I know everyone else will miss you and your work loads too
Take care missy

Thanks for yur nice comments on 'Carolina Mantid' and 'Dragonfly Portrait.' I use the Canon 100mm macro and I was very close the the dragonfly. If you catch them in the morning when it is still cool, cold blooded insects can barely move.

frogsrcool In reply to boron [2004-10-02 08:46:39 +0000 UTC]

That must be the next thing i save up for then - the 100mm macro. saw a sigma 180mm macro - do you reckon that will be better, or not?

must be more dedicated then i guess get up early! what!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

boron In reply to frogsrcool [2004-10-02 12:14:26 +0000 UTC]

In my humble opinion, Sigma sucks. I've had a couple and they are all too soft. I've heard the same from others also. For your money's worth the Canon 50mm macro, Canon 100mm macro, Tamron 80mm macro and I would think any Tokina macros. Unless you want to buy their top line (read very expensive), you will probably be unhappy with Sigma.

frogsrcool In reply to boron [2004-10-02 14:16:41 +0000 UTC]

thanks for that. I was looking at the Canon 100mm macro anyway (and that is quite a few pennies!), following your advice. Never heard of Tokina. Am sooooo enjoying this camera - but really love the macros - so am saving hard! thanks for the advice

Thanks for your nice comments on 'Yellow Woolly Bear Caterpillar,' 'Barn Spider' and 'Green Darner Dragonfly.' If you are ever in the states look me up and I'll take you a couple of city blocks from my home and let you overdose on dragonflies and you can take all of the pictures you want.

Thanks for your nice comment on 'Egg Drop.' If this one frustrates you, you will really hate the shots I got today. Early morning, very foggy, cool, the dragonflies were hardly moving at all, got some very very close shots. I'll post them in a day or two.

Nooooooooooooo, so not fair. I have been looking for dragonflies for ages they are all soooooo lively! Look forward to seeing your next lot

I've just come in from the garden now...I was out there trying to get sparrow shots with my 75-300mm lens and guess what flew past? A bloody dragonfly. Well I couldn't get a shot of it with that lens so I rushed inside for the 18-55mm ...rushed back out...it was still flying round the pond, landed on my shoe for a 10th of a second and flew off again. Too quick! I followed it for 10 minutes round the garden until it flew too high and a bird nabbed it! V grisley. So annoying as it was gigantic and beautifully coloured green and blue.

frogsrcool In reply to starstriders [2004-09-05 20:19:24 +0000 UTC]

how could you not have taken the photo - you should have photographed the bird nabbing it!

That must have been the one that came in my garden this afternoon It was beautiful - and where was my camera? The bloody battery was charging!! The cat jumped at it to get it - and missed - thankfully. but it went away! so must get to my garden at 2 tomorrow, cos they must be creatures of habit, returning to the same spot every day! Unless of course it was the one that you had in your garden and it can't come back tomorrow

Hope you enjoyed the chase!!

Hiya! I am and I'm trying to start up a new group to send deviants out on Photography Challenges...

Here are our current ideas: -

1. An expression of apathy.
2. A crowd of people carrying chairs.
3. A set of plastic cups sticky-taped together in an interesting way.
4. A terrified doorknob.
5. A love-scene staged by fish.

Please feel free to offer ideas and to participate!
