THAT IS HILARIOUS

It is a series of redundant disk drives that are used to back up important-like stuff across independent drives so they don't fail - Redundant And Independent Disks - there is a little teeny weeny bit at the end of each drive that has the total sum of all of the information of all of the drives at the end so if one of the redundant backup drives fail, you can add another hard drive and still recover all of your data.

RAAAAIIID!!!!!!! (hahahahaha) now all I can hear is the commercial running around in my head. I can hear it, smell it, and see the little bugs scouring in every direction. thanks alot.

Why would they call it "redundant"? Because it is duplicative data? Excuse me while I get up to speed on the computer terminology and meanings.
