Whoa, that sounds scary! Sounds like a great idea, but a bit too... what's the word... inorganic? Also, it mentions something about receiving comments, what is that used for?

Or am I being paranoid and it's not some kind of weird viral marketing? Apologies in advance if I misunderstand.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to htmlcoderexe [2018-05-05 00:00:11 +0000 UTC]

ProjectComment is not for everyone. No doubt others feel the same way, but the good thing is that no one is stopping you from leaving the group or not joining the group.

I am not sure what you mean about "receiving comments, what is that used for". If you browse DeviantArt, there are many people who do not receive any comments. That is why ProjectComment is here. We ask people to give comments, so others may get them. In return, they get comments from other people. This is an improvement for some people who comment and comment, but get no comments.

I don't understand how this would be viral marketing. The group is a platform for members to give and get genuine comments to one another. If that was not the case, ProjectComment would not still be here, almost 10 years later. We have 500+ examples of constructive comments given and received by members of ProjectComment .

This honestly sounds a lot more positive, but I guess I am a bit paranoid with online stuff. My main problem is, I kinda have the attention span of a squirrel on speed, so 200 words is a bit above the average comment that I would, so to speak, be arsed to write at any given moment, you know? Is there like a lite version of this? I mostly write random gibberish, but it is positive random gibberish. Don't really care about the getting comments back thing, either (if I understood your system correctly). Yes. A lite version. The one-night stand to your couples club with weekly meetups.

I started coding the Ai project, although in VB. Looks like getting a cold (code! get it?!) improved my programming skills - I did some things I couldn't previously, and it's bug-free on first compile! Using placeholder images sucks, though.

Well I'm going to drag our conversation here since I'm sure ~IFMComics doesn't want all that excess spam on his journal xD. But your world seems cool honestly. I'm going to work on a troll village type place in the mountains while my boyfriend works on whatever he's working on because he never tells me. But since we have no monsters on getting bones and string and stuff is so much harder xD. Usually I tell him he can turn it on for a while and we go kill some things or we just cheat it. I'm probably going to make some kind of sky place. I always get ideas but I never complete it.
[link] that defines most of my projects sometimes. Only because I'll stop trying if I run out of resources fast. (Except the dome, because that was honestly so much fun to make and only had 1/4th of it left to do.

Also, I have a piston-operated low orbit magma cannon on the fortress, just tu burn stuff for teh lulz (also, light). Also, Easy mode isn't that hard. Make a hut with a bed, work at day, keep an iron sword on you, go to bed at night, you'll be fine.

etoilesminuit In reply to htmlcoderexe [2011-07-28 02:59:57 +0000 UTC]

[link] does that work now?
I haven't worked with any piston stuff yet but I wouldn't mind using it soon.
And I have been on easy mode before, just the fact that I never take a break until I'm teleported to bed and forced to sleep for the night.
And I had a spider scare me one time and I chickened out and yeah. :c I'm a wimp.

htmlcoderexe In reply to etoilesminuit [2011-07-28 03:19:17 +0000 UTC]

The link worked. The pic made me LOL.
By the way, iron's the rarest material to find IMO, in terms of how much you'll need. Diamonds and redstone aren't needed in large quantities, but to do any decent-sized railway... well.
Oh, and I have a diamond sword and even a diamond axe. Yeah, I'm a snob. I don't have a shovel (that requires a snob one level higher), nor do I have a Hoe (that requires a snob with level over 9000). Diamond sword is REALLY useful, though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

etoilesminuit In reply to htmlcoderexe [2011-07-28 03:31:33 +0000 UTC]

I've only used a diamond pick maybe three times before lol. I had a diamond shovel when I was flattening the land for my dome home. Usually the whole shovel can just be a stone one and I'm happy. I never get hoes. I leave that for other people lol.
And I find iron so often it's pathetic. I don't know why I seem to always find good stuff but when I had a mining system set up going from bedrock to wheneverIwantedtoStop, I picked a random branch and said "going to find diamond here." and I did, about 4 pieces of it clumped together in a branch I wasn't suppose to make.
The first time I ever played minecraft, I found diamond and didn't know what it was and broke it with a stone pickaxe and wondered why I didn't get anything from it. I ruined a lot of diamond before I figured out I needed an iron pickaxe.

htmlcoderexe In reply to etoilesminuit [2011-07-28 03:42:16 +0000 UTC]

Lol, the first time I ever played, I never managed to find coal, so I mined some stuff in almost complete darkness, and some black clump thing popped out. Then I used a furnace to give some light in my shelter, and some glass to make a sun roof (and to tell the time of the day). Though that one snowed over (I think that was maybe even back in Alpha when you could get an all snowy world at random). I remember being amazed by glass -_- So I tried making torches, but it didn't work >_< It was flint >_< Also the recipe for charcoal didn't work as it only came in Beta 1.2
And I recall having several stacks of iron most of the time back in Beta 1.1 and 1.2, but that's probably because I was digging more. Though my only digging patterns were either a network 3x3 tunnels (lol I hoped to lay tracks in the middle everywhere) or a quarry. Now I do the quarry sometimes, and not a big one, and some strip mining as well. There's that funny thing, too. There were MANY times I uncovered something great (iron, diamond) just a block away from my regular tunnel/quarry/shaft, mostly by accidentally digging in the wrong place.

One mistake I usually make is going SO FAR away from my respawn point that I don't know how to get back and making a home. One world I had I made a small wooden home but later decided to go somewhere else to have my house. I tore most of the house down and left so whenever I needed to know how to get back to my second house, I'd just walk until I found the broken home and move west from there xD.
Before I started branch mining I would just mine underground until I found something. It was so cluttered and I got lost a lot. And when I got lost I'd mine straight up until I got outside and go back home usually.
I knew about minecraft last September but I never thought about playing it until about February. Only because I watched my friend play and was like "I want to build things!@ >:[]"
So glad I started playing it though.

etoilesminuit In reply to htmlcoderexe [2011-07-30 15:41:29 +0000 UTC]

Mine was this year too. But honestly, and don't think anything bad about me for it, I started playing on a cheat version first because I didn't have any money to actually buy the game. I still bought it though, just because I don't like the fact that I basically stole the game and I wanted to play multiplayer. So I did and it all worked out but still wish I could have started when my friend did just so I would have played more and everything.

Apparently the only way to get a song out of your head is to listen to it all the way through. The Nyan cat song is 8 hours long (aside from the nyan.cat site) So good luck on that.

htmlcoderexe In reply to etoilesminuit [2011-08-04 19:41:26 +0000 UTC]

There's a better way, use it as your alarm tone. Works 100%, you'll hate the song in no time. And it lasts! Also, 8 hours? There's a ten-hour video which consists of various clips of shooting people mixed with that one clip where Justin Bieber gets shot.

etoilesminuit In reply to htmlcoderexe [2011-08-04 21:51:37 +0000 UTC]

lol, last time I had a song as a alarm tone, I woke up scared because I wasn't expecting it.
And I heard that it was 8 hours, I could be wrong, but I never watch videos longer than 30 minutes (and that's usually the MineCraft commentary videos I'm subscribed to.)
Speaking of that, I'm lost in a cave with 29 gold, 6 diamond, 34 lapis lazuli, and lots of other stuff. Maybe my friend will let me tp to him when he gets back on... lol

A hint: always place torches on the left side when you explore.
So if you go somewhere unexplored, place torches left.
That way, you can find your way back by going the way where torches are to the right.

I got lost all the time when I first started playing. Once I had a huge snow world (back then you could get a world of snow at random), and I wandered around. A lot. It was like, I made small cave, some glass (I was fascinated by glass back then), then, I got lost, I recall walking on ice a lot (lag due to snow and playing on tiny render distance didn't help a lot). I eventually made a new shelter somewhere, and when I died, I couldn't find my way back. Cue Cartograph showing that I, in fact, made it through several dozen chunks of frozen ocean. I made a few arrows afterwards, pointing me back from spawn. Cue 1.3 and beds.

Do you ever stop playing minecraft and try to use wasd to move around on a point and click game?
I did that yesterday and even tried to press F to change render.
